The Phantoms visited The Hive on Saturday with a perfect record against Bees in the English Premier Ice Hockey League this season, winning all four of their previous meetings.

But despite missing James Galazzi, Chris Wiggins and Rob Lamey, Bees looked to be on course for a sixth straight win as they led 2-0 midway through the match.

Grant Rounding and Shaun Thompson got the goals for the hosts but Phantoms halved the deficit before the buzzer through Thomas Soar.

The visitors continued their fightback in the final period and goals from Luke Ferrara, Erik Piatak and Mark Levers saw them take the two points.

Looking to bounce back on Sunday evening, Bees put in a spirited display in Manchester but ultimately ran out of steam in the final period.

They trailed 3-2 at the second buzzer after goals from Lukas Smital and Rounding had pegged the hosts back.

But Phoenix netted three unanswered strikes in the final stanza to maintain their title push.

Bees welcome Phoenix to The Hive on Saturday evening (6pm f/o) before going to Telford Tigers on Sunday (5.30pm f/o).
