The English Premier Ice Hockey League has been a hive of transfer activity lately, with numerous players switching clubs mid-season.

Bees opted to make a change themselves last weekend when they released import forward Kamil Tvrdek for not providing 'value for money’.

But PSM chairman Andrew Cross insists there will not be any more players following the Czech out of The Hive.

“It is true players on our current roster have been approached and each approach has been rebuffed by the players themselves without any involvement from the coach or owners. Our players want to play for the Bees,” he said.

“The current merry go round of players unsettles players, fans and some owners too. The roster we have wants to play for the club and see through the job they have started. No one else is going anywhere.

“All cost-cutting measures are now complete and the club is financially on an even keel. It’s time to focus on hockey.” Ben Beeching, Bees general manager, added: “Lukas Smital and the current roster are ready to go. We have a tough Christmas period entertaining both Basingstoke and Guildford but we have proven in the recent past we can get results against these teams.

“I hope to see the results the players’ effort and commitment deserve. With the events we have planned for both home games, I hope we can give the match night crowds an experience they will remember.” Despite Bees’ slow start to the season, PSM have announced a 31% rise in match night attendance for home games played between September and November.

With matches coming up against Basingstoke and Guildford at The Hive over Christmas, Cross hopes fans continue to flock to support the team.

“My heartfelt thanks to the existing supporters who keep supporting the team regardless of results and are making the 'newbees’ welcome to The Hive,” he said.

“With an exciting Christmas schedule ahead I am sure this crowd improvement will continue.” He added: “I must thank the Supporters’ Club, the off-ice officials, John Slater and Chris Callaghan for the work they have done this season so far. Their commitment and enthusiasm is second to none and we are truly grateful.”
