BRACKNELL Bees captain Rob Lamey believes the competition between the two netminders brings out the best in both men.

Tom Annetts and Carl Ambler have been regularly rotated by head coach Gareth Cox so far this season, with neither yet able to hold down the position on a permanent basis.

Annetts was the latest to stake his claim with an inspired performance in the 4-2 win over Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday.

"Tom played brilliantly against Milton Keynes," said Lamey. "He made some key saves, even when they pulled their goalkeeper at the end he pulled out some big stops.

"But to have two netminders like Carl Ambler and Tom Annetts that you can rely on each week is what you want and what the coaches want. It's no different to the rest of the positions on the team, you want competition for places and you want people to battle it out for a space and to push each other on. It helps you both to improve." * PICK UP THIS WEEK'S NEWS FOR FULL INTERVIEW AND MORE BEES NEWS.
