BRACKNELL ice hockey star Frankie Bakrlik said the team’s performance rather than his own gave him more pleasure on Sunday, writes Dave Wright.
The Czech scored three goals as the Bees annihilated Cardiff Fire 11-1 in their National League South One match at the John Nike Leisure Complex.
“I am pleased with my hat-trick, but more pleased with the win,” said the 34-year-old forward, who also had a hand in three other goals.
“We needed to bounce back after last weekend when we lost twice.
“We were close to winning (against Peterborough and Basingstoke), but we didn’t and so we knew we had to do something.”
Speaking after the game, Bakrlik added: “We scored many goals – I lost count how many – it was easy.
“I say easy, but we still had to put some effort into the game.”
Bees totally outclassed a young Cardiff side still looking for their first league win after four games.
It was Bakrlik’s second hat-trick since rejoining the club in the close season from MK Lightning.
“Yes, I am pleased to be back with Bracknell, everything is going well so far.
“There are new people here and they are running the team well. I’m really pleased with that – it’s exciting.
“Hopefully, we can put the Bees back to where they belong and I hope we can get more fans coming through the doors.”
Bees visit Basingstoke Bison in the National Cup this Saturday (6.30pm), and are then home to MK Thunder on Sunday (6pm) .
