SKIPPER Matt Foord says he is prepared to play in any position for Bracknell Bees as they strive to secure that elusive first home win, writes Dave Wright.

Bees have lost every game at The Hive this season, the latest coming on Saturday when they were beaten 5-1 by table-topping Telford Tigers.

The forward was given a defensive role and didn’t play badly despite the result.

“I felt quite comfortable there, as I am experienced enough and thought I played all right,” said Foord.

“Yes, I did make a few mistakes, but then I haven’t played D (defence) all year and I know I need to eliminate those small errors. I hope I will get an extended run there.”

Foord still found time to revert to a more accustomed offensive role and netted Bees’ goal in the second period to bring the score to 2-1.

“It was good to get one,” added the Bees captain when he spoke to the NewsNews after the game.

“The fact I haven’t been scoring recently left me a bit worried , but I had a couple of assists last weekend and have now scored tonight.”

He continued: “At 2-1 down there were stages when we had a good momentum going, but their goal near the end of the period just seemed to take the wind out of us.

“I thought our boys played really hard. Yes, we did make some mistakes, but we will learn from them.

“They (Telford) are the best team in league. When you look at their budget and look our ours, I thought we did a really good job.”

At the end of the day, however, it was another home defeat for the Bees.
