The British forward spent seven seasons with Milton Keynes Lightning before most recently playing for Slough Jets in the EPIHL.

Towalski, 30, has 94 goals and 131 assists in over 500 career games, and is almost certain to start for the Bees next season as they aim to reach the play-offs again.

“Matt is one of those guys that leaves everything on the ice in every game I’ve seen him play,” said Bees general manager Ben Beeching. “His versatility will make him a valuable addition to our squad next season.

“His long periods of service including seven straight years at a well-run club like Milton Keynes is a telling factor for both his skill levels and team-first attitude and the value he brings to his club.” During the course of his league career, Towalski has clocked up 600 penalty minutes due to the hard-hitting nature of the 5ft 10in forward.

He was popular with Jets fans but left when the club ran in to financial trouble recently which saw it drop out of the EPIHL into League Two.

And Bees head coach Lukas Smital is certain that the Hive faithful will love their new signing.

“I am delighted to bring Matt to Bracknell,” he said. “I know the fans will very quickly form an appreciation of the all-round game that Matt will bring to the team.

“His contribution is a well-rounded one, being a skilful player and two-way contributor not afraid to do what it takes to win.

“He is the epitome of one of those guys you want to have on your team instead of playing against you.” Bees are set to reveal a string of further signings, with another new arrival on the verge of being unveiled.
