Reading FC tasted defeat on home soil once again in a disappointing 2-1 loss against Norwich City.

A Jon Dadi Bodvarsson header came either side of Teemu Pukki’s opener and a Mario Vrancic winner as Paul Clement’s side put on another lacklustre display.

This is how we thought the Royals performed:

Sam Walker: 5/10 Could perhaps have done a bit better with the second goal but was not much he could have done about the first - it was a quality strike from former Royals target Teemu Pukki.

Chris Gunter: 4/10 Not the best night for the Welsh international. A poorly-timed tackle in the first-half allowed Pukki to slot the ball beyond Sam Walker. He should have redeemed himself when Sone Aluko slipped him through after 30 minutes but the cross was well intercepted by a defender.

Tiago Ilori: 5/10 Another solid performance overall. Ilori looks to have cemented his place as Liam Moore’s partner in defence with Paul McShane nowhere to be seen tonight.

Liam Moore: 5/10 Poor first-half performance but a fantastic block early in the second half to deny Buendia what would surely have been Norwich’s second of the night.

Andy Yiadom: 5/10 A mediocre display from the former Barnsley man. Should have done better when he was played through on goal before dragging his shot wide of Tim Krul’s goal.

Liam Kelly: 5/10 A better performance than we’ve seen in recent weeks. A few good tackles in the first half and showed plenty of energy in midfield. A delightful ball to slip through Baldock in the second-half but the striker was flagged offside.

Leandro Bacuna: 5/10 Didn’t push on from his match-winning performance against Preston on Saturday. His passing was a little wayward at times too. That said, it was his corner delivery which eventually led to Royals’ goal.

Sone Aluko: 5/10 Game of two halves for Aluko. Showed plenty of energy in the first half to press defenders into making mistakes. Also played a delightful ball to take two defenders out of the game and set up Gunter for a cross which was eventually blocked. However, he struggled in the second period and even managed to miss an open goal after the whistle had already blown.

Yakou Meite: 5/10 Put in a bitter-sweet performance. Some mistimed challenges earned him a deserved yellow card but that said, a thunderous strike in the first-half was desperately unlucky not to level the scoreline at the time.

John Swift: 6/10 A quiet first half but he came to life in the second. Brilliant work to get away from a defender and set up Bodvarsson’s equaliser.

Sam Baldock: 5/10 Just didn’t happen for Baldock today. He had a couple of half-chances he should have done better with. Showed plenty of energy as usual but lacked end product.

Modou Barrow: 5/10 Made things happen when he was introduced and asked plenty of questions of the Norwich defence.

Josh Sims: 5/10 Didn’t quite have the impact that he’s had in recent weeks but his work-rate was there for everyone to see. Thought he was unlucky not to start the game after turning the match on its head against Preston on Saturday.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: 7/10 Made an immediate impact from the bench with a poacher’s finish, showing why he’s Reading FC’s top scorer so far. Will have given Paul Clement a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s game against Hull if the manager only wants one striker to start.
