READING have been drawn at home against Premier League outfit Watford in the next round of the Carabao Cup.
Paul Clement's side advanced to the second round of the League Cup after a convincing 2-0 victory over Birmingham City at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Their prize is a home tie against Watford, who started their season in the top flight with a win at Vicarage Road over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Royals impressed on Tuesday thanks to goals from Yakou Meite and John Swift, while new signings Marc McNulty, Sam Baldock and Sam Walker enjoyed starring roles.
The second round fixtures will take place on the week commencing Monday August 27.
The success in the cup followed two straight league defeats against Nottingham Forest and Derby County.
Clement will be hoping to replicate the latest win in the Championship on Saturday, when Reading take on an undefeated Bolton Wanderers side.
