EVERSLEY & California were beaten 4-1 by Hellenic League Premier Division side Reading City on Saturday.

They have made a number of new signings and the players will need time to gel.

Newcomers include a number of ex-Binfield players, including Owen Powell, Jordan Rowland, Aaron Rowland and Jamie McCarthy, along with Billy Simmons from Met Police Under 19s.

Among the substitutes in Reading last weekend was Ben Warren, just days after celebrating his 16th birthday. He impressed when coming on for the last 30 minutes.

The Boars continue their preparations for next season with home friendlies against Ascot United this Saturday and Berks County next Tuesday evening.

Eversley now have season tickets available, covering all home Combined Counties League games except cup ties. They are priced £80 and £40 concessions.

Wokingham and Emmbrook defeated Frimley Green 5-1 in a friendly, their goals coming from Connor Holland (2), Jake White, James Clark and Elliott Rushforth.

The Sumas have two more warm-up games arranged for this weekend, visiting Sandhurst on Friday evening and Kintbury on Saturday.

“They will give me a chance to give the whole squad a good run out,” manager Dan Bateman commented.

Sandhurst Town are another club who have been recruiting with recent signings including Paul Rake, who has been a prolific scorer for Holyport, and former AFC Aldermaston defender Dickie Jones.

Ascot United have signed striker JC Etienne, whose previous clubs include Maidenhead United U23s and Binfield.
