BRACKNELL Athletic Club claimed second place at Thames Valley Harriers in their latest Southern Athletic League Division One fixture.

TVH often struggle on their travels but are very strong at home, as they proved once again with victory at Linford Christie Stadium.

On the field, Bracknell’s men’s team recorded three individual wins. Charlie Ashdown-Taylor won the senior shot putt while his partner, Nathan Standing, took second place in the B string with a personal best.

Oliver Joint won the B string high jump and Robbie Wilde claimed first place in the junior triple jump.

Wilde also set a new pb while finishing second in the long jump, his leap just one centimetre away from a club record.

The biggest pb went to Under 17 James Gardner who added more than 11 centimetres to his previous best.

On the track, there were three individual wins. Ben Wills and Harry Withers took the double in the 2,000m steeple chase, Wills running his fastest time in the event.

Debutant Bruce Poll overcame a couple of mishaps to win the junior 100m hurdles, while his senior partner, Peter Marlow took second place in a new pb.

Adam Dart finished second in the 5,000m, dipping under 17 minutes for the first time.

Jake Hatfield was another runner up in the 100m, while Harry Digby and Ilias Hadeq took second places in the 800m, as did debutant Ollie Lum and Max Borgnis in the 1,500m.

There were more second-place finishes for Harry Henson and Jonny Parker in the 400m hurdles.

Parker followed that up with another second place in the junior pole vault with a new pb.

On the track, Bracknell ladies saw Abbie Sillett storm to A string victory in the 100m.

There were a host of junior triumphs including Charlotte Johnson in the 400m, Freya Jones in the 800m, Marie Halliday in the one-lap hurdles and Emily Spencer-Jones in the 2,000m steeple chase.

On the field, Sillett won the B string long jump and Mia Eldridge the shot, while Emily Spencer-Jones took the hammer and Kirstin King the javelin.

Bracknell ladies won both of their relays, just pipping TVH on the line in the 4x100m while they were two minutes in front of the home side in the 4x400m.

Bracknell men were disqualified in both relays due to changeover faults.
