RU Whelan made a battling 56 not out to help Eversley pick up a draw in their Thames Valley League Division 2s clash at home to Windsor, writes Richard Ashton.

The visitors won the toss and led by Kristan Baumgartner (126), they racked up a respectable 230 before being bowled out in 46.1 overs.

Eversley captain Chris Last (5-66 from 17 overs) was the pick of the Boars’ attack with his off breaks.

The home side struggled in reply, but Whelan’s knock, aided by 40 from Alex Sykes, allowed them to reach safety on 188-7.

Eversley visit Marlow this coming Saturday.

In Division 5b, Eversley 2nds battled bravely to secure a draw at Boyne Hill 3rds.

Left-arm spinner Sam Glaze (3-53 from 14 overs) and Colin Webb (3-64 from 13) were the pick of the attack for Eversley, but useful knocks from Ashish Kapila (73), Gautam Bhanot (57no) and Bilal Butt (47no) helped the hosts total 254-6 from their 52 overs.

Skipper Paul Ager made 40 opening the batting in reply, but a string of failures in the top order left Eversley in trouble.

Stuart Collar top scored with 55, but it was left to Kevin Manning and Webb to grind out a draw, Eversley finishing on 147-9.

Eversley 3rds were smashed by 204 runs at Newbury 2nds in Division 7a.

Captain Stuart Digweed made a brilliant 156 not out to lead the home side to 308-5 declared in 47 overs, Rob Saunders (4-71 from 13 overs) the standout performer for the Boars.

Eversley struggled in reply with only four players making double figures, and they were eventually bowled out for 104 – Ben Martin making the most runs with 25.

In Division 9a, Eversley 4ths salvaged the day for the club with a seven-wicket success at home to Reading 4ths.

David Howorth (3-39) bowled well as the Boars bowled their opponents out for 203 in 39.4 overs.

Howorth (94no) then completed a fine personal performance at the top of the order as Eversley chased their target down in 36 overs, Henry South chipping in with 60.
