WOKINGHAM’S Mike Duggan and Clive Tarran narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter finals of the Men’s County Two Wood competition.

Duggan defeated Moorland’s Roger Goodchild 15-11 to reach the last 16, while Tarran blitzed Thatcham’s Mike Blizzard 16-4.

But Duggan lost the next game 17-12 to Reading’s Darren Holder while Tarran suffered a 15-8 defeat to Hungerford’s Richard Hutt.

In the Kennet League, Wokingham lost 85-55 to Reading A in Division One, drawing on just one rink.

Sunningdale retained the Catley Cup after a superb comeback against Staines.

Trailing by 24 shots after the first leg, they won the second home leg 81-47 to seal a 10-point victory overall, with a highest-scoring rink of Archie Clifton, Llew Jones, Alan Isted and Brian Webb (skip).

Sunningdale lost by six shots to Twyford in a mixed friendly despite winning on four out of five rinks.
