READING FC Women stalwart Jackie Batten-Lincoln has been honoured with the Unsung Hero Award at the FA Women’s football awards in London.

Jackie spent 20 years at Reading from 1989 to 2009, captaining the side for 10 of those seasons before spending eight years as club secretary.

After her playing days, Jackie took on various roles including chairman of the South West Combination Women’s Football League and was also a co-opted member on the FA Women’s Football Committee.

At the end of the season, Jackie will retire from her current roles as a member of the Women’s Football Conference and league secretary of Southern Region Women’s Football League.

On collecting the award Jackie said: “I’m really shocked, I never expected to be nominated let alone win the award and it’s a real honour.”

The winner was announced at the 20th annual FA Women’s Football Awards last Friday.

The ceremony celebrates the very best of women’s football including grassroots, domestic and international football.

Reading FC Women held their own presentation night recently where Remi Allen walked away with three trophies.
