WOKINGHAM are through to the next round of the Berkshire mixed doubles fours after a 35-27 win against Reading.

Skip Malcolm Giles along with Tom Searle, Anne-Marie Murray and Jill Thorne won their rink by 22-10, while John Scowen's rink went down 17-13.

Wokingham will play Lambourn in the last 16 of the Berkshire county benevolent triples thanks to a one-shot victory against Hurst.

The match was tied 14-14 going into the final end before some fine play from Bob Thompson, Colin Livingstone and Mike Duggan clinched the victory.

In the Kennet League, Wokingham suffered their first loss in Division One with an 83-70 loss at Bracknell.

SUNNINGDALE played the first leg of the annual tri-tournament against Abingdon and Prospect Park with two points for a win and one for a draw.

The day ended with all three clubs locked on four points each going into the next leg.

The mens’ and ladies teams both lost at Staines in the Symes & Catley Cups.

The mens’ winning rink was Derek Cooper (skip), Llew Jones, Steve Hawthorne and Alan Isted.

Kathy Edwards (skip), Janet Spencer, Marian Jones and Sheila Sparks were successful for the ladies.

In the Kennet League LV Division, Sunningdale A lost 63-40 at home to Maidenhead Town A for an 8-2 defeat on points.

Winning rink for Sunningdale was Keith Steele (skip), Les Green and Ken Johnson.

Sunningdale B drew 48-48 at home to Windsor & Eton B as the points were shared 5-5.

Their winning rink was Mike Thompson (skip), John Boyer and Mike Ward.

Great Hollands

IN the Thames Valley Ladies League, the Linnets lost 62-33-to Reading for a 10-0 defeat on points.

The Wrens’ match against Desborough was postponed due to rain.

In the Kennet league, Great Hollands lost 80-79 to Desborough in a 9-5 points defeat.

The KLV A team lost 54-38 to Palmer Park for an 8-2 points defeat.

The B team were beaten 57-52 at Reading for a 6-4 points loss.

The C team won 57-43 at home to Wokingham D for a 10-0 points victory. Roger Entwistle, Stan Nicholson and Derek Tickner won 22-14; Neil Lofthouse, Les Dykes and Norman Bullock won 16-14 and Henry Bone, Paul Chapman and John Fudge won 19-15.
