BINFIELD CC will begin their bid to reach a Lord’s final when they host Purley on Thames in the opening round of the National Village Cup.

If Mike Staves’ men are successful on April 29, they will then have another home game against Donnington in round two a fortnight later.

In the semi finals of the Berkshire section, Binfield would be at home to either White Waltham or last summer’s regional champions Cookham Dean.

Five sides make up the other half of Group 25, with Wraysbury hosting Datchet in the first round before the winners have a home tie against Peppard Stoke Row.

The other second round fixture sees Wargrave welcome Pinkneys Green to their Recreation Road ground.

A total of 300 sides are going for glory across the country, with the final due to be played at Lord’s on Sunday, September 16.

l CHRIS Last will continue as Eversley CC captain for the 2018.

The off-spinning all-rounder (above) has been re-elected as the Boars bid to improve on their fourth-placed finish in Division 2a of the Thames Valley League last summer.

Tom Howorth (below) has been named as vice-captain, with Eversley due to begin their league campaign at home to OMT on Saturday, May 5.

The club has also announced that Paul Ager will captain the 2nd XI, with Matt Salter skippering the 3rds and Tony Critchley in charge of the 4ths.

Joe Howorth leads the Midweek Twenty20 side.
