SOUTH Berkshire 5ths dropped to sixth in the MBBO Division Eight East table after they were beaten 2-1 at home by Wycombe 5ths on Saturday, writes Richard Ashton.

In Division Eight West, title hopefuls South Berkshire Terriors remain third despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Wallingford 4ths.

South Berkshire’s re-arranged MBBO Regional Two trip to Tring was postponed, with Sonning the visitors to Cantley Park this coming Saturday.

Jack Baveystock bagged a brace and there were also goals for Paul Kaplanski, Kaya Campion and Ashley Stratton as South Berkshire 2nds improved their MBBO Division Two survival hopes with a 5-1 drubbing of fellow strugglers Oxford Hawks 4ths.

Neil Gallacher was on target for the visitors, but the result sees South Berks climb to eighth in the table, albeit only a point above Marlow 3rds and last Saturday’s victims.

Duncan Clarke and Richard Wallace were on target for South Berkshire 3rds, but they were thrashed 7-2 at Oxford 3rds in Division Three.

Matt Oakes helped himself to a double for the home side, with their other goals coming from Job Greondfeld, Matt Neville, Chris Orme, Ben Richards and Huw Tasker.

South Berkshire Ladies slipped to fifth in Premier One of the Trysports Three Counties League, table-toppers Amersham & Chalfont easing to a 5-1 triumph.

Emma Hewitt, Alice Keddy, Helen Brown and Emily Mann were among the hosts’ goalscorers.

South Berkshire do not have a game this weekend, returning to action with a tough home game against third-placed Marlow on Saturday, February 24.

In Premier Two, South Berkshire 2nds drew 0-0 at home to Thame, while third-bottom South Berkshire 3rds remain in a relegation battle after being edged out 1-0 at Maidenhead 4ths in Division Three.

Division Five title favourites South Berkshire 4ths had their lead at the top of the table cut to four points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Wycombe 4ths.
