ASCOT United reached the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup quarter finals following a 3-2 extra-time victory at Wallingford Town on Saturday.

Rob Lazarczuk headed against the woodwork for the visitors midway through the first half, but it was Wallingford who took the lead shortly after.

Ryan Cooper sent James Spruyt tumbling in the penalty area, and while Lee Allen saved Jack MacLaughlin’s spot-kick, Steve Gair drilled home the rebound to put Town 1-0 up.

Ascot dominated the second half – substitute James Richardson hitting the cross-bar – and they grabbed a deserved 79th-minute equaliser when Barry Dunbar struck from Lazarczuk’s assist.

It was the visitors who took the lead just a minute into extra time, Wallingford ‘keeper Liam Vaughan making a brilliant fingertip save to push Lazarczuk’s shot onto the right-hand post, only for Ben Hodges to roll the ball into the back of the net.

Yet Wallingford levelled six minutes later when the lively Spruyt set-up substitute Zach Field, and he made no mistake in making it 2-2.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men as home captain Danny Morgans received his marching orders before Lazarczuk followed him, but the Yellamen sealed the victory when Dunbar headed home a Ross Denton free-kick with seven minutes remaining.
