READING FC Women host Arsenal Ladies this Sunday with a place in the Continental Cup final up for grabs (2pm ko).

Royals entertain the Gunners in a mouthwatering semi-final clash at Wycombe’s Adams Park this weekend.

The winners on the day will then meet either Chelsea or Manchester City in the first cup final of the season.

Reading have been in superb form in the competition and top Group One South with a 100% record over four games including a 2-1 victory over Arsenal along the way.

Fara Williams was the heroine on the day after scoring a sensational winner from the halfway line against her former club.

The 33-year-old midfielder, who boasts 162 England caps, had also opened the scoring only for Beth Mead to equalise for the Gunners.

Royals head into Sunday’s semi final after a 5-2 home defeat to Women’s Super League 1 leaders Manchester City last weekend, while Arsenal lost 3-2 to Chelsea in their last match.

Reading manager Kelly Chambers stated: “I think we played excellently (against Manchester City) and it’s probably our best footballing display in a first half this season.”

And Chambers also believes new signing and former Liverpool forward Natasha Harding could play a crucial role this weekend.

Bracknell News:

Natasha Harding joined Reading after leaving Liverpool.

“She is a fantastic player and she adds a different dimension to the squad,” added Chambers. “That's what I needed to go forward for the rest of the season.

“We’ll get her involved more and get her playing – definitely.”

Reading needed penalties to see off Everton in the Continental Cup quarter finals thanks to Kirsty Linnett’s winning spot-kick after the game had finished 1-1 after extra time.

Arsenal, despite losing to Reading in the group stages, managed to qualify as a group runner-up before seeing off Sunderland 3-1 in a quarter-final tie.

And Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs admitted their defence will have to be strong to keep Royals at bay.

“There were positives against Chelsea that we can take forward into this game,” she explained. “We’ll need to tighten up on a few things because we can’t concede three goals again.”
