SOUTH Berkshire ladies were leapfrogged by Marlow 2nds as they dropped to fifth following a 2-1 away defeat in Premier One of the Trysports Three Counties League, writes Richard Ashton.

They will look to bounce back when they host Oxford 2nds on Saturday.

In Premier Two, goals from Rebecca Black and Caroline Batten consigned South Berkshire 2nds to a 2-0 loss at home to Oxford Hawks 4ths.

Sofia Reina was on target for winless cellar-dwellers South Berkshire 3rds in Division Three, and while they put in an improved display against second-placed Marlow 4ths, goals from Sarah Perks and Ella Griffin secured a 2-1win for the hosts.

Diana Ritchie scored the only goal of the game as Division Five table-toppers South Berkshire 4ths battled to a 1-0 victory against Sonning Veterans.

South Berkshire men – who dropped to fifth after not having a fixture last weekend – return to MBBO Regional Two action with a trip to Marlow 2nds this coming Saturday.

In MBBO Two, Logan Russell netted for South Berkshire 2nds, but they were edged out 2-1 at Marlow 3rds.

Dan Field and Robin Walls did the damage with the goals for the home side.

Struggling South Berkshire 3rds battled bravely before ultimately going down 2-1 at home to second-placed Henley 3rds in Division Three, while South Berkshire 4ths’ trip to Wallingford 3rds was postponed.

In Division Eight East, visiting South Berkshire 5ths missed out on a third straight win, but they performed impressively to hold table-topping Wootton Wanderers 2nds to a 0-0 draw.

The more youthful home side had the pace advantage on South Berks, but their Bracknell-based opponents utilised their experience to good effect.

Attack after attack was repelled at both ends, but with strong defences playing for both teams it was difficult to find a way through in open play for either side.

The rare chances which did arise were safely put back out to play or made safe by the keepers.

Division Eight West leaders South Berkshire Terriers dropped their first points of the season, suffered a 5-1 hammering at home to Reading Rascals.

The SuperVets were beaten 3-1 by Horsham Hobblers in a friendly.
