RACING returns to Ascot this Friday and Saturday with the annual beer festival an added attraction.

Friday’s feature race is the Class 1 LondonMetric Noel Murless Stakes for three-year-olds over 1m 6f.

There were 10 entries at the five-day stage, including Weekender, trained by Josh Gosden with Frankie Dettori booked to ride.

They were, of course, the same combination who won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with the outstanding Enable at Chantilly last Sunday and Dettori will again be wearing the same Khalid Abdullah colours.

There are six races in all on Friday, starting at 2pm.

Saturday’s card gets under way 10 minutes earlier with the Hope And Homes for Children Rous Stakes over the minimum distance of five furlongs.

Five of the six races are between five and seven furlongs, with the exception being the Group 3 Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes over an extended 1m 3f.

Abdullah’s green and pink colours could also be seen in this race with the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Midterm among the entries.

Aidan O’Brien may send Highland Reel, who won the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, over from Ireland, while Godophin have two entries, Best Solution and the seven-year-old Secret Number.

Mojito, trained by William Haggas, will be seeking a fourth successive win if he takes his place in the totesoop6 Challenge Cup.

The three-year-od has installed as the 6-1 favourite at the five-day stage for this race, which is the UK’s joint most valuable seven-furlong handicap at £180,000.

Away from the track, Ascot’s annual CAMRA Beer Festival returns for its 11th year, with more than 240 real ales, ciders and perries to sample as well as traditional pub games, a quiz and live music.
