BRACKNELL table tennis star Lucie Bouron has won a bronze medal at a major European tournament.

The 22-year-old, above, secured her medal at the PTT Czech Open in Ostrava recently.

Bouron started the tournament with a 3-1 win against Greek opponent Foteini Bousiou.

She then went on to finish third in the round-robin event to clinch a place on the podium.

Bouron said: “I’m feeling pleased with this tournament.

“I feel I played some good table tennis and that has been shown by my medal in the team event.

“There are definitely some positives coming through in my matches and some areas to take home and work on.”

Bouron’s only losses came against world number four Andela Muzinic and her fellow Croatian, Helena Dretar, who is the world number 10.

In the doubles, Bouron and her partner, Chilean Tamara Leonelli, won 2-0 against teams from Argentina and Netherlands plus Israel and Greece.

They progressed to play Muzinic and Dretar, who won 3-0 and moved onto the final.
