LONDON Irish legend Topsy Ojo believes his side can take real confidence from their stunning win against Harlequins ahead of a trip to Aviva Premiership champions Exeter Chiefs on Saturday (3pm).
Nick Kennedy’s men produced a stunning perormance to beat Harlequins 39-29 in the second part of the London Double Header at Twickenham, scoring four tries in the process including a magnificent one from Ojo.
And Exiles’ all-time top tryscorer Ojo admitted: “To start the season in such a positive manner is fantastic.
“We have to continue to earn the respect of the other teams in the Premiership and we know it’s a very long season with 21 more rounds to come.
“We go to the champions this weekend, which will be a huge test, but we go there feeling confident.”
Exeter won their maiden Premiership crown with a dramatic extra-time win against Wasps back in May, but they suffered a shock opening-day defeat at Gloucester, going down 28-21 at Kingsholm.
And while Ojo expects a backlash, he added: “We have high hopes for ourselves this year.
“We have our own belief and we’ll see where we are come the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, Kennedy said: “It doesn’t get any easier now, with a tough test at Exeter.
“The win against Quins will give us confidence and hopefully we can build on that performance. We’ll do our best at Exeter.”
