BINFIELD CC kept the pressure on Chilterns League Division One leaders Wraysbury with a dominant six-wicket victory at Chalfont St Giles.

Tim Vines made the initial breakthrough when he had Simon Lancaster caught by Tom Andrews with the score on 12, and the catcher then took a wicket himself when he dismissed opening batsman and captain Chris Cross to make it 16-2.

Tom Nower got in on the act as he had Chris Baumohl caught by Chris Morgan, and when Vines removed Andy Power, Chalfont were in all sorts of trouble at 46-4.

Vines (3-29 off 13 overs) then accounted for James Plested, but Dan Heaney offered a semblance of resistance in making 19 until he became the second of Nower’s victims.

From 78-6 Binfield went in for the kill, and with Nower (4-25), Andrews (2-26) and Chris Morgan picking up further wickets, the home side were routed for just 100 in 32.4 overs.

Binfield started solidly and had made it to 42 before Sean Ennis was caught by James Plested off the bowling of Daniel Winter.

Fellow opener Morgan was in good touch and scored 45 until we was the second man to go, caught by Paul Plested off Liam Cross to leave his side 76-2.

Steve Carson and Mikey Allan-Canty were also dismissed as Binfield finished off the chase, but Andrews and Mickey Reid ensured they did with little alarm in only 19.1 overs.

Second-placed Binfield sit just four points behind Wraysbury and travel to mid-table Braywood on Saturday (1pm).

In Division Two, Binfield 2nds were thrashed by 151 runs at Knotty Green.

Kamal Gupta (3-69) made an early breakthrough when he had Nicholad Patel caught behind by Paul Edgington for 7, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Jonathan Patel hit 19 boundaries and three maximums in a sparkling 140, and with Ross Kemp also blasting an unbeaten 41 at number nine, Knotty Green declared on a massive 324-9 after only 48 overs. James Wright (3-48) and Gupta (3-69) were the pick of the attack.

The Binfield reply never really got going, although Chris Halligan (47) and Steve Jeffery (35) did bat well. However, the visitors were dismissed for 173.
