JAAP Stam's agent has reaffirmed his commitment to Reading FC following interest from a number of rival clubs.

Henk Timmer told Dutch media that Stam will remain 'loyal' to the Royals and will be in the dugout for the start of next season.

Stam has become hot property after turning Reading's fortunes around in his first season in management.

He is on the Leeds United shortlist to replace Garry Monk and is currently the second favourite with the bookies behind Victor Sanchez.

However, Stam is set to ignore offers from elsewhere and commit his future to the Royals, with the offer of a new two-year deal on the table when he returns from holiday.

Timmer told Voetbal International: “There’s a lot of interest in Jaap from English clubs and elsewhere in Europe but he is loyal to Reading, the club who gave him his chance in English football.

“If a big club from the Premier League comes, it might be another story.

“The club (Reading’s) leadership are realistic but as it stands, Jaap wants to finish his job at Reading.”

Stam, who has one year to run on his existing contract, took Reading all the way to Wembley where they lost the Championship play-off final to Huddersfield Town on penalties.

And while there has been widespread speculation surrounding the ex-Manchester United defender's future, Stam has always insisted he has no intention of leaving the Madejski Stadium.

Speaking before the play-offs started he said:”The result won't have an impact on my future here. I enjoy working here.

"I want to go to the top, I played at the top as a player and I want to as a manager. But hopefully I can do that at Reading."

Bracknell News:

Reading hope to tie down Danny Williams on a new contract.

Stam is now set for detailed talks with Reading's new Chinese owners Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu L in the coming weeks.

It is understood the pair are ready to back Stam in the transfer market as he looks to bolster his squad for another crack at promotion.

And that could also mean a new deal for out-of-contract midfielder Danny Williams, who is attracting interest from Huddersfield and elsewhere.

Stam already has a number of summer targets in mind following links with Celtic full-back Saidy Janko, Real Zaragoza striker, Angel, who hit 21 goals in Spain's second tier last season, and Nancy defender, Modou Diagne.

But Reading's success last season when they finished third in the table also means some of their own players have caught the eye of rival managers, with Premier League duo Burnley and Swansea City said to be tracking Liam Moore, 24, and midfielder Liam Kelly, 21.
