GREAT Hollands Linnets won 56-20 against Caversham in the Thames Valley Ladies League for 10-0 victory on points.

Sheila Lee, Lorraine Capon and Liz Austin won 24-10. Rita Littleford, Anne Neville and Rita Hills won 15-8 and Jose Chippendale, Ingrid Girdlestone and Sheila Readings won 17-11.

In their second match of the week, the Linnets 49-46 to Tilehurst for an 8-2 loss on points.

Rita Littleford , Anne Neville and Rita Hills won 18-14, Jose Chippendale, Ingrid Girdlestone and Sheila Readings lost 16-15 and Sheila Lee, Lorraine Capon and Olive Bambury lost 19-13.

In the Kennet LV League, Great Hollands A won 59-34 at Windsor & Eton A for a 10-0 victory.

The top triple was Ray Furnell, Ken Perrett and Terry Harmer, winning 22-8. George Harris, David Brown and Syd Bambury won 18-10 and Dave Sutherby, Frank Townsend and John Treanor won 19-16.

The B team defeated Sunningdale B 63-35 and 8-2 on points. Top triple was Fred Moody, David Horton and David Anderson, winning 35-3. The other winning rink of Mike Stickland, John Hills and Fred Payne won 20-10 but Richard Clark, Henry Bone and Tim Barrett lost 22-8.

The C team hosted Woodley B, going down 48-57 for an 8-2 loss.

The D team drew 49-49 with Suttons B resulting in a 5-5 points split. The only winning triple was David Harnden, Vic Worsfold and Robert Dearman by 22-11.

Norman Bullock, George Auret and Bill Cruickshank drew 17-17 while Neil Lofthouse, Les Dykes and Ray Penfold lost 21-10.

  • BRIAN Webb (skip), Les Green, Margaret Butler and Don Allston won Sunningdale’s only rink in their annual tri-tournament with Abingdon and hosts Prospect Park.

Abingdon also won on one rink for two points while Prospect won on four for eight points. The next leg is at Abingdon on June 18.

In the Kennet League, Sunningdale beat Suttons B 93–83 for a 10-4 points win. Best rink was Brian Munden, Keith Steel, Green and Webb (skip).

In the KLV Division, Sunningdale A thrashed Wargrave 41-7 for an 8-2 points win, while Sunningdale B lost 63-35 at Great Hollands, taking two points to the hosts’ eight.

Sunningdale Ladies won at Maidenhead Town by 79-67 shots in the County Top Club. The team was: Marjorie Walklett (singles); Margaret Ward, Kathy Edwards (pairs); Katherine Mathias, Pam Kiddell, Margaret Nutley (triples) and Sheila Sparks, Rita Harden, Gill Dickson and Lynn Gorringe(rinks).

  • WOKINGHAM Bowling Club defeated Woodley 40-27 in the third round of the county mixed doubles competition.

John Scowen, Sam Welsh, Jill Thorne and Teresa O’Connor lost 17-14, but on the other rink Lillian Holliday, Adie Chipper, Sylvia Pearce and Martin O’Connor won 26-10 to secure the victory.

Wokingham A lost 79-70 at Caversham A in Kennet League Division One. Wokingham won on two rinks, drew on one and lost on one.

Top rink for Wokingham was skipped by Alan Symondson with Gerry Deeves, Martin Brailey and Andy Franklin, winning by five shots.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, Wokingham Oakapples went down 33-23 at Island Bohemian Cygnets in Division Three. Wokingham had one successful triple skipped by Cyndy Price-Finnie with Marie Fielding and Dora James winning 15-12 shots.

The other triple, skipped by Jenni MacGregor lost by 21 shots to 8.

In Division One, Wokingham Acorns defeated Maiden Erlegh 68-49.

Wokingham men lost 92-91 at Woodley in a friendly. The rink of Gerry Deeves, Bob Boswell, Keith Roberts and Martin Brailey who won their game by 15 shots.
