GOALKEEPER Mo Nyamunga has left Binfield to join Combined Counties League Premier Division side Badshot Lea, writes Dave Wright.

He signed for the Moles from Alton Town last November, but lost his place to Liam Vaughan in February, only to regain it late on when the youngster fractured his wrist.

His last appearance was in the 3-0 defeat by Bracknell in the Reading Senior Cup final.

A problem with Nyamunga and Binfield was that he lives in Farnborough and doesn’t drive, forcing him to rely on lifts to matches.

“With that in mind, it is better for him to move to a club nearer his home and we wish him well,” said manager Roger Herridge (pictured right).

Vaughan is likely to start next season as the first choice, with Herridge commenting: “He impressed when he came into the side. He is young and keen with a lot of potential.

“I have told Liam he will have the chance to prove himself in pre-season when we will also be looking at another keeper.”

Herridge is looking to strengthen his squad and admits to having “lots of irons in the fire.”

Despite suffering six defeats to their neighbours last season, Binfield are looking forward to being involved in Bracknell Town’s four-team tournament which is to be held over successive weekends - July 8-9 and 15-16.

Windsor were scheduled to compete, but the Hellenic League newcomers have now decided to opt out and their place has been taken by Eversley & California from the Combined Counties League Division One.

Wokingham & Emmbrook complete the quartet of clubs who will be taking part.

In the meantime, the Bracknell club are planning to expand their already-large junior section.

They had 16 teams last term, but now they are looking to field 29 teams next season.

Chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse confirmed: “It will be a massive growth for youth football in the area. There will be teams, for both boys and girls, from the age of Under 7 all the way up to U18. We are sure there will be a great deal of interest and we will are currently finalising dates for trials.”

Ascot United, another side with a large youth section, have appointed Zak Spencer as the manager of their Under 18 Allied Counties Youth League side.

He has previously played for the team, as well as for the senior side and reserves.

Spencer has a long association with the Yellamen, having played for the first team and reserves.

He will be joined by head coach Nathan Baker and Ady Milne.
