GREAT Hollands Linnets claimed a 73-24 win against Suttons for a 10-0 points victory in the Thames Valley Ladies League.

Sheila Lee skipped the highest winning rink, grabbing a 30-5 success together with Lorraine Capon and Olive Bambury.

Jose Chippendale, Irene Girdlestone and Rita Hills won their rink 26-7 and Jo Sanders, Sheila Horton and Liz Austin prevailed 17-12.

The TVL Wrens did not fare as well against Reading, losing two of the three rinks in a 2-8 defeat.

Great Hollands men started their Kennet league season with an away match at Woodley, winning 77-62 points for a 12-2 match win.

In the KLV league, Great Hollands A hosted Twyford, winning 57-43 for an 8-2 points victory.

Dave Sutherby, Frank Townsend and John Treanor won 25-9, George Harris, Ken Perrett and Syd Bambury came out 16-15 victors and Ray Furnell, Mike Bowden and Bill Cheale lost 19-16.

The KLV B team played at Maidenhead Town C, losing 62-39 for a 10-0 defeat.

Fred Payne, John Hills and Mike Stickland lost 19-16. Richard Clark, Lawrie Peckever and Tim Barrett were beaten 17-11and Edwin Readings, David Horton and Mitch Mitchell went down 26-12.

  • WOKINGHAM Bowling Club won on both rinks at Palmer Park in the County Mixed Double Fours Championship first round.

John Scowen, Adie Chipper, Anne Parker and Sylvia Pearce won their game 25-16, while Neil Jones, Alan Symondson, Jill Thorne and Teresa O’Connor won 22-17.

Wokingham Acorns defeated Tilehurst Blue 52-40 and won on all three rinks in their Thames Valley Ladies League Division One opener.

Anne Parker, accompanied by Sandra Thompson and Jill Thorne had the highest triple, winning by six shots.

Wokingham Oakapples won 61-40 at Trentham in TVLL Division Three.

They won on two rinks and drew on one. Highest scoring rink was Joy Deeves (skip), Margaret Argent and Vidy Melber, winning by 13 shots.

  • SUNNINGDALE Bowling Club's men lost by 85-70 shots at Three Mile Cross in the Kennet League, earning two points to their host's 12.

Winning rink for Sunningdale was Steve Hawthorne, Mike Thompson, George Edwards and Derek Cooper(skip).
