READING FC striker Lewis Grabban revealed his delight after his stunning volley sparked a turnaround as the Royals came from a goal down against relegated Rotherham to secure a 2-1 victory yesterday.

Grabban, who has been heavily criticised since his deadline day loan switch from Premier League outfit Bournemouth, bagged his second goal in as many games to bring the scoreline level.

It was a stunning effort from the 29-year-old as he caught Garath McCleary's delightful cross on the volley and crashed the ball past a rooted Millers' keeper.

The equaliser sparked life into the Royals' game and they soon took the lead thanks to a flowing passing move culminating in a tap-in for midfielder John Swift.

"I'm just happy to get another goal and to be part of turning the result around," stated Grabban.

"The first half wasn't good enough but the second half was better and it was a good win.

"It's always good to get goals, especially as a forward because it makes you feel more confident. I'm just enjoying my time at the moment.

"In that situation the main thing is to get a proper connection and to keep your eye on the ball and that's what I did."

Having started Saturday's fixture on the bench, Grabban admitted his Royals' team-mates were suffering from fatigue having played Aston Villa on Saturday.

A lacklustre first-half performance saw Reading trail at half-time, but Rotherham were pinned back in the second-half and the Royals' constant pressure finally paid off.

Grabban continued: "We stuck with it, that's the main thing. At this stage of the season we need to get results and that's what we did.

"The lads were tired but they dug deep and did the right things."

The win means the Royals need just two points from their remaining three fixtures to mathematically seal a spot in the play-offs.

But Grabban insisted Reading must remain focused on the task ahead.

He concluded: "Hopefully we will get those points and we will go into the play-offs with a good run of results and with lots of confidence.

"The most important thing is that we finish with high momentum, whether that means finishing third or fourth it doesn't really matter that much."
