SOUTH Berkshire men stayed in MBB&O Division One promotion contention after earning a 3-3 draw at home to Phoenix & Ranelagh, writes Richard Ashton.

Rob Badley scored twice for the hosts, with Ben Dudley getting the other. Phil Browne, Martin Newell and Jack Rooney were the Phoenix goalscorers.

The result lifted South Berkshire up to third in the table, two points off the top two.

They travel to Ashford 2nds on Saturday.

South Berkshire 2nds are all but relegated after they lost 5-2 at fellow strugglers OMT 2nds.

Ryan Kaley and Rob Pace netted for the visitors, but doubles from Joe Gray and Matt Paynter, allied to a Tom Jervis goal, did the damage for OMT. The result leaves second-bottom South Berks five points behind their opponents with two games remaining.

Second-placed South Berkshire 3rds remain right in the Division Three promotion shake-up after thrashing Banbury 3rds 5-1.

Peter Tailby bagged a brace and Duncan Clarke, Andy Sonden and Adrian Tang also got on the scoresheet for the hosts, with Tim Yates on target for Banbury.

In Division Five, South Berkshire 4ths lost 5-3 at Leighton Buzzard 2nds. Pete Bailey scored twice for the visitors and Logan Russell also found the back of the net, but goals from Stephen Fuller, Howard Gregory and Fraser Retford, allied to a Stuart Retford brace, did the damage for Buzzard.

Division Seven basement boys South Berkshire 5ths enjoyed a day to remember as they hammered Gerrards Cross 3rds 5-0, while in Division Eight West, South Berkshire Terriers earned a point with a 1-1 draw at Oxford Hawks 7ths.

South Berkshire Ladies enjoyed a 2-0 home win against Wycombe 2nds in Premier One of the Trysports Three Counties League.

They travel to Oxford 2nds on Saturday.

In Premier Two, South Berkshire 2nds kept their feint survival hopes alive with an impressive 3-0 victory at high-flying Slough 2nds.

The result leaves them six points behind third-bottom Wallingford 2nds with two games remaining.

In Division Three, South Berkshire 3rds were beaten 2-0 at Maidenhead 4ths, while South Berkshire 4ths lost 3-0 at Marlow 4ths in Division Four.
