BRACKNELL RFC recorded a seventh straight National Three South West victory with a hard-fought 20-15 success at home to Launceston.
It was an 11th win in 13 games for Dan Ap Dafydd’s men, and keeps them in the promotion hunt with four matches remaining.
The day did not start well for the Lily Hill men, however, with Launceston taking the lead before the hosts hit back with a Chris Laidler penalty.
A drop goal from the fly half and two further penalties put Bracknell 12-5 in front, but Launceston grabbed a second try with almost the final play of the half, second row Jordan Duke crossing for a try converted by Fraser Honey.
Despite the scores being locked at 12-12, Bracknell dominated the first half and they moved in front early in the second period when Kim Plant went over.
A Laidler penalty pushed his side 20-12 in front, and although Launceston kicked one of their own, they were unable to complete a comeback.
Bracknell have a week off before facing a crucial trip to third-placed Camborne on Saturday, March 25.
