FULL TIME: London Irish 29-20 London Scottish

  • WING Alex Lewington will make his first London Irish appearance of the season as they host London Scottish in the Greene King IPA Championship this afternoon.
  • The England Saxons speedster returns after more than six months out with a knee injury, and is one of six changes to the side which thrashed Nottingham 60-14 last time out.
  • Tongan international Tevita Koloamatangi makes his debut at No. 8 having signed last week, while Exiles’ top tryscorer Ben Ransom comes in on the wing in place of Aseli Tikoirotuma.
  • Scottish international Blair Cowan replaces club captain Luke Narraway at open-side flanker, Tom Court comes in for Harry Elrington in the front row and Darren Allinson gets the nod at scrum half ahead of Scott Steele.
  • Irish Director of Rugby Nick Kennedy is delighted to have Lewington fit again, and is targeting a 15th straight league win for the unbeaten table-toppers.
  • He said: “I’m really pleased to have Alex back in the team and he’s worked very hard in training and impressed.
  • “His return is testament to the fantastic work of our medical department who have devoted many hours of time and dedication in getting him back out onto the pitch.
  • “We’re looking forward to seeing him in action again.”
  • He continued: “I was pleased with the way we performed against Nottingham in our last match and it’s important that we continue to build momentum as we approach the crucial stage of the season.
  • “We’ve had a lot of time to work on a few things since our last outing and the lads are raring to go against a tough London Scottish team.
  • “They will be keen to avenge the result against us back in October (62-12) and it’s clear to see how they are a much improved side of late.
  • “We have a lot of competition for places at present which is healthy going into the final run-in.
  • Recent recruits Josh McNally and Lovejoy Chawatama are among the Exiles replacements, the latter set to make his debut.
