TIAGO Ilori is set to seal his move to Reading FC today.

The 23-year-old Liverpool defender has been on the verge of joining Royals for more than a week.

But it has taken the clubs a while to iron out the details of the London-born Portuguese youth international's contract.

Ilori will become Royals' club-record signing and he is expected to sign a four-year deal.

It is believed Royals will confirm his arrival later today.

Ilori's new team-mate Liam Moore has already spoken openly about the transfer, while assistant manager Andries Underlink said last week: “I have spoken to Brian Tevreden [technical director] and the paperwork is at an advanced stage, it is almost a done deal.

“Brian is waiting for Tiago's side and Liverpool to sort out the last couple of things.

“I don't know the exact details but it is almost done.

“To be honest I only know him from the many clips I have seen.

“We didn't focus on one option, but we have seen a lot of him on the laptop.”

He added: “He's a fast centre-back and he is good on the ball. He still has things to learn but he has a lot of potential.

“Hopefully he can adapt to our style and show his qualities.”
