BRACKNELL RFC recorded a third straight National Three South West victory with a bonus-point 41-13 triumph at rock bottom Bromsgrove.
Yet it was the hosts who started the better of the sides and within 10 minutes of the kick-off they had an 8-0 lead.
Bracknell pulled themselves together and got onto the scoreboard with a penalty, before Jack Conway put Lachlan Valentine through a hole to score Bracknell’s first try and draw the scores level.
The Lily Hill men took the lead with a converted Jasper Miranda try after a driving maul from the forwards, and the visitors went into half time 15-8 in front.
Bracknell moved further ahead in the second half when a smart dummy from Ben Sanderson saw him score his side’s third try of the day.
A little more than 10 minutes into the second half Bracknell scored their bonus-point try.
From a blindside move off the base of a scrum, Valentine fed Ben Yates who was able to break the Bromsgrove defence to touch down and make it 27-8.
Bromsgrove responded with an unconverted try of their own before Valentine scored his second of the day with a fine pick and drive, and the one-sided contest was concluded when openside flanker Simon Hadad scored the visitors’ sixth try of the afternoon.
Bracknell head of rugby Daniel ap Dafydd reflected: “I think a five-point win when not at our best, with a few key players missing, shows how far this group has come.
“We now have a few styles of attack the players are comfortable with and we hope to keep progressing each week.”
Bracknell host Newton Abbot on Saturday (2.15pm).
