BINFIELD FC were plagued by injuries during their 4-0 defeat at Highworth on Saturday, writes Dave Wright.
George Lock was forced off after 30 minutes, while Jake White and James Suarez had to be replaced at half-time.
Sean Moore was also injured but had to play through the pain barrier, while new goalkeeper Mo Nyamunga was left struggling with a groin problem in the second half.
The Moles, who trailed 2-0 at half-time, enjoyed a much better second half, having more of the play and creating a number of scoring opportunities.
James Knight fired just past the post, sub Luke Hayden blasted one high over the bar and Liam Ferdinand forced keeper Kent Kauppinen into making a fine save.
Manager Roger Herridge commented: “To concede two goals in the second half was harsh on us.
“Knight and Ferdy were outstanding, while the subs (Hayden, Matt Jones and Brad Pagliaroli) all made a difference.
“Things are not going our way at the moment, but I feel we are not far away from being a good side. We probably need two or three new players to improve the squad.
“At the moment, collectively, we all need to stick together, work harder and I am sure we will turn thing around.”
Binfield, in 11th place, are away to third-placed Flackwell Heath this Saturday (3pm) before meeting Thame, currently second, at home on Monday evening (7.45pm).
