BRACKNELL Town FC went goal crazy on Tuesday evening, crushing Brackley Town Saints 9-0 in their Hellenic League Premier Division game at Sandhurst, writes Dave Wright.

The young Brackley side produced some delightful football at times, but were no match for Bracknell, who played superbly and with the utmost confidence.

Bracknell are now up to fifth in the table and trail leaders Thatcham by nine points having played five fewer games.

TJ Bohane bagged a hat-trick to follow up his two goals on Saturday, taking his season’s tally to 13 goals for the Robins. He netted in the 36th, 47th and 75th minutes.

Khalid Senussi was on target after 20 and 63minutes, Callum Whitty on the hour mark and Joe Grant three minutes from time.

Two crosses from Grant were turned into their own net by Saints defenders in the 66th and 78th minutes.

Bracknell will be looking to extend their 13-match unbeaten run when they visit Croydon in the first round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

Manager Mark Tallentire had intended watching the Southern Counties East League side play Whitstable last week, but his journey did not go to plan.

He explained: “I got stuck on the Bagshot Road for an hour and a half, so I turned round and went home.”

Tallentire added “I have spoken to a manager of a team who played against them recently and he’s given me the information I need, so I know what style they play.”

Ascot United also face Southern Counties East League opposition in the Vase this weekend, visiting on Hollands & Blair in Gillingham.

On Tuesday they were held to a 1-1 at home to Oxford City Nomads.

Jamie West, on his return to the club from Flackwell Heath, put United ahead in first-half injury time, but for the rest of the game they could not find a way past outstanding keeper Christian Lawrence.

The visitors equalised through Connor Mattimore on 50 minutes and had Matt Peake-Pinjen sent off for a foul on Luke Wilson just after the hour mark.

Elsewhere, Binfield manager Roger Herridge is demanding more from his team following a poor run that has seen them take only one point from four league games and dumped out of two cup competitions.

“The squad is undoubtedly a talented one. They are all good lads away from football, but it’s on the pitch that a number are letting me down,” he claimed following their 3-0 defeat by Flackwell Heath on Monday.

“When you are on bad run you need players prepared to run through brick walls for you, but it’s quite apparent that not enough of them are prepared to do that for me or for the club at the present time.

“They need to be mentally stronger as well as physically, too many have gone missing on and off the pitch recently.”

Herridge added: “It’s up to the players to repay the faith I showed when signing them, but some are fast running out of chances. You can’t just flit and out at this level of football.

“I am working hard to strengthen the squad.”

Last Saturday, he had 13 players missing when the Moles drew 0-0 at Lydney.

“Some had valid reasons for not playing, but I still feel there are a number of players in the squad who need to show a lot more commitment,” added Herridge.

At least there will be no selection headaches for him this weekend, as Binfield are without a game due to scheduled visitors Thame United being involved in the FA Vase.

Moles return to action next Tuesday at Ardley United, who scored three goals in the last 15 minutes to win 3-2 at Burnham this week.
