FORMER England player Aftab Habib (66) top scored before Eversley’s Division 2a game at Maidenhead & Bray was washed out on Saturday, writes Max Baker-Smith.

The Boars posted a competitive 182-9, and the game was intriguingly poised with Maids 61-3 when the heavens opened.

Eversley host Kidmore End on Saturday (12.30pm).

In Division 2b, Royal Ascot’s home game with Henley 2nds was abandoned, causing their opponents to be crowned champions ahead of the second-placed hosts.

Nick Sweetman (88) played a captain’s innings to ensure his side reached 204-6, and Henley were in trouble at 66-4.

But a solid partnership between Zac Jones (53no) and Mikey Williams (25no) consolidated the innings before the rain came.

Royal Ascot host Beaconsfield this Saturday (12.30pm).

Hurst’s game with Thatcham Town was also abandoned.

Skipper Ollie Lovegrove (60) top scored to help Hurst reach 181 all out, and it was set up for a good game with Thatcham 73-3 off 24 overs, but the rain came to ruin the contest.

Hurst are at home to High Wycombe 2nds this Saturday (12.30pm).

In Division One, Wokingham’s game with Falkland was called off four overs into the second innings.

Batting first Wokingham put on an impressive 237-2, with Dan Housego (118no) top scoring with an excellent century for his side.

The Oaks did strike early in Falkland’s (34-1) innings, but with only 4.1 overs of it able to be bowled it was not enough to constitute a game.

Wokingham are at home to Boyne Hill on Saturday (12.30pm).

Eversley 2nds’ Division 3a game against Cove 2nds was abandoned.

Cove declared on 227-9, and the Boars were well placed on 119-3 before the rain came.

In Division 4b, Wokingham 2nds beat Farnham Royal by three wickets.

Royal were bowled out for 177 batting first, and the Oaks knocked them off thanks to a half century from Craig Beales (55).

Royal Ascot 2nds beat Slough 4ths by 36 runs in Division 5b.

Openers Deep Mohain (79) and Murray Barter (77) put on a healthy first wicket partnership as Ascot declared on 207-3.

And Henry Chapman (5-28) then did most of the damage with the ball as the visitors were bowled out for 171.

Elsewhere, Bracknell beat Maidenhead & Bray 2nds by 49 runs.

Nipun Chopra (58) made Bracknell’s total competitive as they were bowled out for 180, but Tyron Winter (4-38) starred as Maids were blown away for 131.

In Division 6b, Hurst 2nds beat Fleet 2nds by 13 runs in a close contest.

Hurst were bowled out for just 112, but Tim Everitt (5-55) ensured they turned the game on its head and skittled their opponents for 99.

In the same division, Royal Ascot 3rds’ game with Wokingham 3rds was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Eversley 3rds lost to Finchampstead 4ths by 59 runs in Division 7a.

Rob Saunders (5-48) bowled well as Finch were bowled out for 127, but the Boars collapsed to 68 all out as Joe Loveday (5-11) proved destroyer-in-chief.

Bracknell 2nds’ game with Thatcham Town 3rds was abandoned with no play possible.

In Division 8a, Eversley 4ths (119-1) beat Reading 4ths (115-9) by nine wickets.

Royal Ascot 4ths lost to Windsor 4ths by eight wickets. Ralph Weeks (50) ensured respectability for Ascot as they were bowled out for 133, before Raymond Borg (63*) ensured a swift victory for the hosts.

Wokingham 4ths had the better of a draw with Datchet 4ths. Mark Evans (81) helped the Oaks post 247-6 declared, but they could not bowl Datchet (187-8) out.

In Division 9a, Wokingham 5ths (100) lost by 43 runs to Boyne Hill 4ths (143).
