HURST dropped to fourth in the table after visitors Burnham 2nds had the better of their Division 2b draw, writes Max Baker-Smith.

The away side put on an impressive 264-7 in their 52 overs – deciding to bat their full allocation instead of declaring – and Hurst never looked likely to chase the score down, with their innings ending on 162-6.

Hurst visit Thatcham Town this Saturday (12.30pm).

Royal Ascot stayed second in the table despite a nine-wicket loss at Slough 2nds.

Faisal Khan (4-30) bowled well for the hosts as Royal Ascot lost wickets at regular intervals in being bowled out for 165, and Usman Ilyas (64no) ensured his side had no troubles chasing down the score in just 23 overs.

In Division One, Wokingham beat Cove by 44 runs to stay third in the table.

Stuart Parsons (63) saw Wokingham post 267-8, with Jack Turner (46) and Stuart Hayter (39) also contributing well.

And the Oaks went on to bowl Cove out for 223, with Tom Wood (4-45) doing most of the damage.

Wokingham travel to Falkland on Saturday (12.30pm).

In Division 4b, Wokingham 2nds remain top of the league despite only managing a draw with Stoke Green 2nds.

Craig Beales (66) saw the Oaks to 221-9 declared before John Mcdonald (6-47) tore through the hosts’ batting line up, but they couldn’t take the final wicket.

In Division 5b, Bracknell lost to Aldershot 2nds by 133 runs in a one-sided affair.

Ben Harris (84) top scored as his side racked up 246-7 declared, before Jamie Grover (7-76) bowled an inspired spell to see Bracknell (113) quickly brushed aside.

Bracknell host Maidenhead & Bray 2nds this Saturday (12.30pm).

Royal Ascot 2nds beat Reading 3rds by five wickets to remain just one place outside the promotion spots.

Henry Chapman (5-38) ensured Reading were bowled out cheaply for 157, before useful contributions from the majority of the home side’s batsmen saw their side comfortably home.

Hurst 2nds drew with Cove 3rds as both sides remain mid table in Division 6b.

Kelvin Baillie (66) scored a half century for Hurst as they posted 210-6, but despite Tim Everitt’s (4-44) best efforts, the visitors could not bowl out Cove (196-8).

Wokingham 3rds maintained their promotion push as they beat visitors Wargrave 2nds by four wickets.

Rizwan Hanif’s (53) half century for the away sides was almost a lone hand as they limped to 161-9, and Wokingham (162-6) knocked the runs off without fuss as they stay in the second promotion spot.

Elsewhere in the division, Royal Ascot 3rds drew with Purley-on-Thames 2nds.

Dan Corsini (95*) saw Royal Ascot post 257-7, but Mohammed Arshad (74*) ensured the Potters would not be bowled out as they ended 236-8.

In Division 7a, Eversley 3rds beat Thatcham Town 3rds by 143 runs as they remain in second place.

Paul Ager (107) led the way as the Boars totalled 243-6, and Thatcham were then shot out for just 100.

Bracknell 2nds (123) lost to Yateley 3rds (127-4) by six wickets.

In Division 8a, Wokingham 4ths (183-6) beat Royal Ascot 4ths (182-7) by four wickets, despite Cameron Temple (73) getting the highest score of the match for the defeated side.

In the same division, Eversley 4ths lost to Sonning 3rds by a massive 162 runs. Imran Mehmood (86no) got Sonning 3rds to a massive 276-4 declared, before Vivek Vashisht (5-25) helped skittle the Boars for 114.

Wokingham 5ths drew with Maidenhead and Bray 4ths in Division 9a.

Hazel Wilkinson (79) top scored as the Oaks totalled 227-4, but they could not quite bowl Maids out as they finished on 105-9.
