EVERSLEY CC put in one of their best performances of the season to defeat Tring Park 2nds by 76 runs in Division 2a, writes Richard Ashton.

Tom Wright (74), Shane Green (67, pictured), James Magowan (63) and Phil Wise (50) were all among the runs as the Boars racked up an imposing 284-4 before declaring in the 45th over.

And a fine all-round team bowling performance helped dismiss Tring for 208, captain Chris Last (3-51 off 17 overs), Green (2-10) and John Turner (2-25) the pick of the eight bowlers used.

Eversley visit Chenies & Latimer this Saturday (1pm).

Hurst’s hopes of winning Division 2b took a major knock as they lost their-top-of-the-table clash at Henley 2nds by 59 runs – leaving them 69 points adrift of the leaders.

Andrew Ruddock (4-78), Phil Higgs (4-58) and Lewis Smith (2-30) took the wickets for the visitors, but useful contributions from Mikey Williams (42) and Chris Ellison (41) guided Henley to 187.

In reply, left-arm spinner Cameron Jacobsen (6-28) proved too good for Hurst, and with Nigel Dunstan (4-45) also in good form with the ball, the second-placed side were dimissed for 130.

Hurst host Wargrave on Saturday (1pm).

Royal Ascot dropped to fifth after they lost by six wickets at home to Thatcham Town.

James Wensley (55) and Andy Murray (45) were the main contributors in the hosts’ total of 190-9, but Thatcham eased home after 41 overs.

Royal Ascot visit High Wycombe 2nds this Saturday (1pm).

In Division 3a, Eversley 2nds lost to Newbury by 62 runs.

Joe Tucker took 4-85 for the Boars, but fine innings from Charlie Anstey (71), Rajeev Hanabe (47) and Surya Sastry (41) enabled Newbury to declare on 257-6 after 50 overs.

Aftab Habib (50) and Mike Judd (41) both showed form in the run chase, but Kevin Mills (5-71) and Anstey ultimately combined to dismiss Eversley for 195.

Royal Ascot 2nds (151-9) lost to Boyne Hill 2nds (152-7) by three wickets in Division 5b.

A stunning spell by Mohammed Shabir (6-27) fired Bracknell (110) to a 61-run success against Reading 3rds (49). Shashika Fernando had earlier scored an unbeaten 42 for the home side, while Azeem Qayyum took 6-46 for Reading.

Bracknell travel to Slough 4ths on Sunday (1pm).

Hurst 2nds won a Division 6b thriller by four runs at home to Theale & Tilehurst 2nds.

Jack Wrigley’s 69 led Hurst to 197-8, while Mo Jamil took 5-57 for the visitors.

James Martin (46) and Sachin Rane (48) gave T&T a perfect platform, but they lost wickets throughout to crash to 193 all out, Tim Everitt (3-56) and Josh Harris (3-47) the pick of the attack.

Royal Ascot 3rds had the better of their draw at Fleet 2nds.

Dan Corsini top scored with 55 not out for Ascot, with his side declaring on 220-9 after 50 overs.

Mike Wyatt (3-20) bowled a tidy 11-over spell in the Fleet reply, but the home side were able to cling on for the draw, closing on 150-8.

Henley 4ths had the better of an exciting Division 7a draw at Eversley 3rds.

Richard Bradbury hammered a wonderful 109 not out for the hosts in their total of 213-5, Boars’ captain Rob Saunders claiming 4-99.

Eversley held on for the draw in reply, reaching 202-9 with Saunders (63) top scoring.

Akmal Sultan (81), Shafiq Malik (65) and Peter Henley (61) impressed as Bracknell 2nds racked up a huge 264-3, but Kidmore End 2nds secured a draw by closing on 127-8.

In Division 8a, Royal Ascot 4ths (216-9) rescued a draw thanks to Cameron Temple (70) and John Dunnett (52) in their game against Kew 4ths (269-4 declared after 40 overs). Paul Clark took 3-48 for Ascot.

Tony Critchley produced a superb spell of 7-45 for Eversley 4ths, but they were thrashed by 141 runs at Windsor 4ths.

The hosts scored 171, but Paul Woodbridge’s 7-10 destroyed the Boars in reply.
