A DISAPPOINTING batting performance caused Sandhurst to lose ground in the Division One title race as the Camels were beaten by seven wickets at home to Ibis Mapledurham, writes Richard Ashton.

No Sandhurst batsman reached 20 as Abhijeet Patra (3-20) and Chad Cudjoe (3-37) restricted them to 119-9, and Chris Webber’s unbeaten 44 led the visitors to an easy win.

Table-topping Berkshire County Sports cruised to a seven-wicket success at home to Stratfield Turgis.

Chris Butcher (89) and Daniel Spence helped the visitors to 180-3, but they proved nowhere near enough as Salman Hamidi (73no) and Waqas Ashraf (56no) saw BCS home.

Checkendon and West Reading 2nds played out a thrilling tie in a high-scoring encounter at Reading University.

Ujjwal Tickoo (101) and Aiden Keeble (86) took Checks to an imposing 279-8, but captain Usman Ali (97) and Adnan Raja (87) helped level the scores on an excellent batting track.

Basement boys Bradfield were thrashed by 146 runs at fellow strugglers Goring-on-Thames.

Jonny Russell (73) and Chris Walsh (70) led the hosts to 280-5, and Steve Wincott’s 4-10 skittled Bradfield for 134.

A magnificent unbeaten 89 from Gavin Sinclair gave Hawley a six-wicket win at home to Sulhamstead 2nds.

Openers Jason Doole (77) and Alex Davies (56) impressed in Sully’s 211-7, but Sinclair and Mike Tiley (55) anchored a fine run chase.

Skipper Dan Hayden played a lead role as Peppard Stoke Row moved joint top of the Premier Division with a six-wicket success at reigning champions Sulhamstead.

Marc Thompson (93) Ryan Brown (68) and Shiva Aruna (45 from 18 balls) were the standout performers as Sully racked up a creditable 250-4, but Hayden (87no), Andy Watts (55) and Fergus Nutt (43) pulled off a fabulous chase.

West Reading are level at the top after a winning draw at Woodcote.

Zafar Ali (99) and Adam Davidson starred as Wests made 240-7, Zaheer Ahmed taking 3-54.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood’s fading title hopes took a knock as they were thrashed by eight wickets at Woodley.

Division Two leaders Farley Hill crushed Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds by 138 runs.

Ali Jalil (80) and Akeesh Khokhar (65) were the mainstays in the Farley total of 266-6, and Craig Jorey then took 3-29 as Crows were bowled out for just 128.

Peppard Stoke Row 2nds leapfrogged Shinfield into second with a four-wicket home win.

Ian Jackson (4-41) and Olly Nicholson (3-37) were the star men as Shinfield were bowled out for 175, and Rich Ashton (58) and Simon Gozzard (42) took PSR to victory.

Sanjeev Jain made 53 as Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds (97-6) beat Earley (95) by four wickets.

Resurgent Waltham St Lawrence consigned Sandhurst 2nds to the foot of the table with a five-wicket triumph.

Andy Yates (55) top scored as the Camels made 185-6, but Lee Capeling’s 62 proved crucial as the Saints picked up a second win of the season.

Captain Stuart Barrable smashed 66 from just 51 balls to help Division Three leaders Twyford & Ruscombe (151-5) to a five-wicket win against Knowl Hill (150).

Warfield stayed second following a crushing nine-wicket dispatching of Purley-on-Thames 3rds.

Tejpal Singh (79 off 59 balls) lacked support for the Potters as they were bowled out for 156, Takunda Pswarayi (4-35) the chief destroyer.

That proved wholly insubstantial as David Wilson and Duncan Greeff both made 56 not out to ease the visitors to victory.

Anish Pandey made 53 not out as Woodley 2nds (130-1) crushed West Reading 3rds (128) by nine wickets. Kaseem Ali scored 63 for Wests.

Manu Chadha took 4-32 for Welford Park 2nds in their losing draw at Mortimer West End 2nds (229). Henderson Alleyne (70) led the Welford reply, but Manish Garg claimed 4-20 to restrict the visitors to 183-9. Sulhamstead 3rds conceded their game at Ruislip Victoria 2nds.

In Division Four, Second-placed Shinfield 2nds (160-9) squeezed past Hawley 2nds (154) by one wicket.

Waltham St Lawrence 2nds secured a 23-run win against Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds.

Stuart Nock top scored with 50 as Saints made 155-9, veteran John Cartledge taking 4-26.

That was enough for Waltham, however, as aside from Dave Shaw (52), Crowthorne struggled with the bat and were bowled out for 132.

Chris Morgan (106) and Paul Edgington (58) inspired Binfield 3rds (258-7) to a 205-run annihilation of Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds (53).

Jim Chettlebrugh (62) and Jamie Stansfield (55) led Bradfield 2nds (252-3) to a 27-run success at home to Falkland Development (225). Josh Scurr (64) and Gavin Murphy (48) impressed for the Newbury-based side, but Richard Stansfield’s 5-37 was enough for Bradfield.
