BRACKNELL Athletic Club made it three wins out of three to cement their place at the top of Southern Athletic League Division Two West.

They picked up an impressive 234 points on home territory at John Nike Stadium last weekend to finish a whopping 70 points ahead of second-placed Hillingdon (164), with Oxford third (159) and Highgate fourth (133).

On the field, Mark Wiseman led the way with maximum points in all three of his throwing events.

He added nearly 40 centimetres to his season best in the hammer and achieved his best league throws this season in the discus and shot.

He was partnered in the shot and hammer 16-year-old Charlie Ashdown-Taylor.

Despite both implements being over two kilos heavier than his age group weight, Charlie won both of the B string contests with 11.04m in the shot, beating his previous best by 11cm.

Then, having never thrown a hammer competitively before, Charlie achieved 34.52m.

David Shotter making his club debut, gained useful points in the senior Javelin, allowing his team mate Sam Russell to take second place in the junior competition.

Sam's elder brother, Ben Russell, and Peter Marlow won both strings of the high jump, making it four double wins in a row, for the partnership.

Two further doubles were set in the jumps as Robbie Wilde won the senior long jump. His partner, 15-year-old Matthew Buckner, son of ex-Olympiad Tom, won the B string contest on his debut.

Ben Russell and Charlie Ashdown-Taylor also became the first pairing to gain the pole vault double since June 2001. The B string pole, last being won in July 2005.

In the triple jump, Harry Henson and Ben achieved close double seconds.

Onto the track and Sam Collins and Matthew Buckner shared the 200m winners’ rostrum, Matthew with a new personal best.

Sam's brother Matthew Collins and Ryan Brackstone showed the field the way home in their 400m races.

Juan Del Azar gained some useful points in the two senior middle distance races, allowing partners Maxwell Cooper, who gained a new PB in the 800m, and James Daly in the metric mile, to achieve second places.

Second “A” string places were also achieved by the Russell brothers in the hurdle races, Ben in the 110m and Sam in a new best time in the one-lap race.

Another new PB went to Richard Larsen, who with Alex Mouradian tackled the 5K.

In the ladies' section, there were double wins for Amelia Quirke and Emily Spencer-Jones in the 1500m.

Amelia was paired with Sophie Poole in the 3K then also Elena Carey and Hannah Barnard in the 2K steeple chase.

Rebecca Watkins took maximum points in the junior 200m, as did Phoebe Fenwick in the B string 100m.

Ella D’Abreo won the junior one-lap dash. Then in the-two lap 800m races, Hannah McClay finished second in the A string while Suzie Liverseidge won the B string.

Natalie Mulliner won the junior 400m hurdles and then took third place in the senior 100m hurdles, allowing her partner Natasha Norris to win the B string race.

In the jumps, Abi Waters and Hannah McClay shared winning honours in the high jump and Emily Macdonald won the pole vault.

Rhiannon Larsen won the senior long jump and her partner, Tanya Grosvenor, took second place in the B string.

Connie McCafferty was a clear winner of the triple jump.

On the throwing field, the partnership of Ivana Koynarova and Emily Spencer-Jones was all conquering in the hammer, while Yasmin Bryan won the B string shot.

The last races of the day were the relays with Bracknell winning all four.

Emilia Rakowska, Rebecca Watkins, Hannah McClay and Phoebe Fenwick successfully brought the baton home in the 4x100m, winning by nearly three seconds.

Connie McCafferty, Suzie Liverseidge, Fenwick and McClay waited nearly 12 seconds to welcome the second team home in the 4x400m relay.

The male quartet of Gideon Olosunde, Robbie Wilde, Calum Wesley and Sam Collins were half a second ahead of their nearest rivals the 4x100m sprint relay.

In the 4x400m, Sam Russell, Matthew Collins, Ryan Brackstone and Calum Wesley won by a clear seven seconds.
