PLAYERS are queuing up to join ambitious Bracknell Town FC, writes Dave Wright.

The Robins are looking to strengthen their squad and manager Mark Tallentire will be spoilt for choice when he gets down to making signings.

“There has been a lot of interest in players wanting to join us,” said Tallentire.

“They know there is a lot of redevelopment going on at the club and players are keen to come and be part of it – and why not?”

A new 3G pitch is being installed at Larges Lane, which Tallentire admits is “going to be a big plus for us.”

He added: “It will be a fantastic surface to train and play on, and players want to come and play here. There has been plenty of interest since the end of the season.”

Tallentire revealed he is looking for “four or maybe five players to freshen up what we had last season and make the squad more competitive.”

He added: “When I brought in new players last season, it just wasn’t to keep the club up in the Premier Division but what we were planning to do next season.

“All of last season’s squad remain committed to the club and no-one has told me they plan to leave, but I know other clubs are showing an interest in some of them, and so you can never be sure until they put pen to paper.”

Tallentire, however, has released goalkeeper Garry Aulsberry.

The manager explained: “I feel it was the right decision but the reasons will remain private.

“I have a couple of replacements in mind and have been talking to one in particular.”

With next season kicking off in the first week of August, Bracknell will return to training on June 28.

And Tallentire added: “I expect things to hot up a little bit in the next week or so with players ringing up and hopefully some of them will be from those I have been speaking to, to tell me they want to sign.”

The Bracknell manager has already brought in one new face – although no complete stranger at Larges Lane – with Geoff Warner being appointed first-team coach.

“He offers a wealth of experience and will be good for our players. I am looking forward to working with him,” said Tallentire.

Warner, who once played for Bracknell, has been a coach with several clubs, including Reading FC Academy, Crystal Palace and, more recently, Southern League club Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Lee Simpson, who was coach last season, has been appointed head of coaching for the Under-8s to Under-21s.

Tony Perry is the club’s new goalkeeper coach, replacing Garry Aulsberry’s father, Pete.

Work has already started on preparation work at Larges Lane in readiness for the installation of the new 3G pitch which is due to commence next month.

Club chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse said: “We have been reviewing contractor contracts and aiming to sign formal contracts by Friday this week.”

Due to the season kicking-off earlier than expected, Bracknell’s proposed friendly at Holyport on August 2 has been cancelled.

Bracknell have withdrawn their development side from the Hellenic League Division 2 East and switched them to the Suburban League.

They have also recruited nine new youth teams from under-8 upwards and are looking for more with vacancies at Under-8s, Under-10s, Under-12s and Under-15s. These teams can play either on a Saturday or Sunday.
