SUNNINGDALE BC were beaten 87-73 in their opening Kennet League game at Three Mile Cross.

The winning rink was skipped by John Turner with Steve Hawthorne, Don Allston and Keith Steele.

In the LX Division, Sunningdale A lost all three rinks in a 78-38 defeat at Great Hollands, whose victorious teams were skipped by George Harris (24-17), Dave Sutherby (25-15) and Ray Furnell (29-6).

Sunningdale B defeated Windsor and Eton B 53-37, with the highest scoring rink made up of Mike Bateman, Adrian Thomas and Keith Steele (skip).

The ladies lost their Thames Valley League game at Woodley 54-45. The winning rink was Janet Spencer, Pam Kiddell, Marjorie Walklett.

WOKINGHAM BC won three of the four rinks to overcome Desborough 80-72 in their first Kennet League match of the season.

The top rink for Wokingham was skipped by Tom Searle along with Trevor Gilmour, Colin Livingstone and Clive Tarran.

In Division Two, debutant Barry Pither impressed as Wokingham B beat Bracknell 82-73, while Wokingham C lost 79-64 at Wargrave. Dave Hewitt played well on his first start.

Wokingham A defeated Wokingham B in the opening match of the LX competition Division One season.

The biggest winning triple for the A team was skipped by Colin Cleverley along with Tom Searle and Ron Swan who won their match by 24 shots.

Wokingham D lost 52-46 at Reading B in Division Three. Keith Roberts skipped the Wokingham winning triple with John Pickering and Alan Hughes and they won 18-10.

The club defeated Tilehurst 82-74 in a friendly. Wokingham won on three of the five rinks with the most successful skipped by Malcolm Giles and featuring Martin O’Connor, Alun Hughes and Jim Rudd. They won 21-15.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League Division One, Wokingham Acorns beat Tilehurst 58-32. The top triple was skipped by, Anne Parker along with Jill Thorne and Shirley Dutton who won by 22 shots. Wokingham skips first.

In Division Three, Wokingham Oakapples lost 57-38 to Trentham, failing to win any of the three rinks.

Wokingham lost a mixed friendly 87-77 at Fleet, although there was an excellent win for skip John Macgregor, ably assisted by Barbara Wooley and Cliff Carroway who won by 11 shots, 24-13.

GREAT Hollands BC endured a disastrous start to their Kennet League season as they were thrashed 80-64 by Woodley.

The club lost all four rinks which were skipped by George Harris (17-18), Tony Morton (15-24), Dave Sutherby (18-22) and Fred Payne (14-16).

The LX B team lost 65-35 at Bracknell. The Great Hollands skips were Tony Morton (18-14), Henry Bone (8-30) and Mike Strickland (9-21).

The C team were beaten 57-34 at Three Mile Cross.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, Great Hollands Wrens lost 59-41 to Pangbourne, while the Linnets team fared better and beat Suttons 52-41.

The Linnets rinks were skipped by Jo Sanders (19-7), Rita Littleford (20-16) and Sheila Lee (13-18).

Great Hollands won three of the five rinks for a 109-81 victory in a mixed friendly against Cippenham.
