EMMBROOK & Bearwood suffered a second straight Premier Division defeat as they lost by 101 runs to visitors West Reading, writes Richard Ashton.

Wests were indebted to Kazam Kamal’s 57 and Shary Tariq’s quick-fire 35 from 27 balls as they were dismissed for 218, Mark Van Der the pick of the attack with 4-33.

Emmbrook’s reply started poorly as they crashed to 39-4 in the face of a fine opening spell from Usman Tariq (4-42), and despite Sean Woodward’s 35, Hafeez Ul-Wahab (4-16) ran through the lower order as the hosts were knocked over for 117.

Fergus Nutt made a brilliant unbeaten 135 as Peppard Stoke Row demolished Welford Park by 194 runs.

Captain Dan Hayden also smashed 84 from just 57 balls as PSR declared on 267-5 after 40 overs, and spinners Dion Sampson (5-30) and Ashley Hayden (5-33) then skittled Park for 73.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood ground out a losing draw at champions Sulhamstead.

Aaron Briggs (73), Marc Thompson (48) and Steve Belcher (42) led Sully to a competitive 251-6, despite the best efforts of Ravi Godbole (3-46).

The Crows reply never really got going with Doug Macdonald recording fine figures of 4-23. Joe Davies (42) top scored as the visitors closed on 140-6.

Woodley staged a remarkable recovery to beat Mortimer West End by three wickets.

Steve Audsley (45) helped MWE to 200 while Abdul Khaliq took 4-28 for the hosts, but they looked in dire straits after collapsing to 54-5 in the run chase.

However, Kashif Ali (54) and Jordan Goddard (52 not out) turned the game on its head and Woodley got home with more than eight overs to spare. Ken Allsobrook bagged 3-39 for MWE.

Woodcote cruised to a six-wicket win at home to Ruislip Victoria.

Jaimee Jose (3-29) helped restrict the visitors to just 111-8, and despite Ashwin Rajashekhar’s 4-40, Woodcote completed their win in the 22nd over.

Checkendon top the early Division One table following a winning draw against neighbours Goring.

John Acland-Hood made a superb 118, and helped by Ashish Talreja’s 51, Checks closed on 230-8. Andy Steele took 3-36 for the hosts who struggled to 138-7 in reply, Nikhil Kulkarni top scoring with 55 not out.

Berkshire County Sports eased to a 77-run win at home to Bradfield.

Salman Hamidi scored 52 as BCS were dismissed for 193, Jack Byrne (4-43) and David North (4-30) the pick of the Bradfield attack.

However, that was more than enough for BCS, who bowled the visitors out for 116 despite Tim Smith’s 42.

Hawley secured a 71-run victory at home to Ibis Mapledurham.

Errol Masters took 5-28, but Gavin Sinclair’s 57 ensured Hawley reached a competitive 164.

Ibis never got going in reply and were shot out for just 93, Tom Heighes claiming 4-30.

Simon Hards (55), Adam Birch (41) and James Birch (41) inspired Sandhurst to a crushing 116-run victory at home to Sulhamstead 2nds.

The Camels racked up 240-7 before shooting out their opponents for 124.

West Reading 2nds snatched a two-wicket win against Stratfield Turgis.

Brad Compton (49) steered the visitors to 120 all out as Usamah Mahmood (4-17) ran riot with the ball, but Steve Clarke’s 4-25 ensured it was not a smooth passage to victory for Wests who eventually reached their target in the 40th over. Adnan Raja top scored with 40.

Farley Hill recorded a second straight win in Division Two with a tense two-wicket success at Peppard Stoke Row 2nds.

Hugh Asquith (48) helped PSR to 165-9, but Ali Jalil (72) took Farley to the edge of victory before they crossed the line in the final over.

Nirav Upadhyay took 4-33 but it wasn’t enough for Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds as they were beaten by 82 runs at home to Shinfield.

Ankush Ghandi top scored with 43 as Shinfield were bowled out for 166, but Raja Rafaqat’s 4-18 helped demolish Crows for just 82.

Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds produced a fine run chase to beat Waltham St Lawrence by seven wickets.

Zaheer Gujjar’s unbeaten 69 helped Saints to 200-7, but excellent knocks by Sanjeev Jain (79no), Andy Webb (71) and Ray Carter (40no) ensured the visitors got home with 12 balls to spare.

In Division Three, Ruislip Victoria 2nds squeezed home by two wickets against Warfield.

Ashley Gander top scored with 65 for the visitors in their total of 201-8, but half centuries from Neil Booth (52) and Sak Bhatti (50no) took the Middlesex-based side to victory.

Jay Patel returned superb figures of 4-7 to inspire Mortimer West End 2nds to a convincing seven-wicket win against Sulhamstead 3rds.

The visitors were shot out for just 122 and MWE cruised to victory.

West Reading 3rds won an astonishing match by one run against Twyford & Ruscombe.

Osman Mahmood (82) and Adeel Rafique starred with the bat as Wests ran up a colossal 293-9, but Angus Weir’s sensational unbeaten 128 gave Twyford hope.

Captain Stuart Barrable chipped in with 57, but Twyford lost their last two wickets to run outs to fall agonisingly short with three balls of their innings remaining. Waleed Choudhry took 4-37 for Wests.

Woodley 2nds (211-6) beat Knowl Hill (125) by 86 runs, while Fasul Nufail enjoyed a dream day in Purley-on-Thames 3rds had the better of a draw against Welford Park 2nds.

He smashed 113 in the Potters’ total of 262-6, before taking 4-17 in the Park innings. Uday Paturi (110no) guided the visitors to safety on 158-7.

In Division Four, Dave Aust made 45 as Shinfield 2nds (175-9) thrashed Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds (55) by 120 runs. Kiran Alluri took 6-17 for the hosts.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds (144-9) beat Falkland Development (101) by 43 runs, while Bradfield 2nds eased to an eight-wicket win at home to Waltham St Lawrence 2nds.

Stuart Nock top scored with 57 for Saints, but Chris Jones (6-15) ran through the middle and lower order as they were dismissed for 143 and Bradfield knocked them off with more than six overs in hand.

Peppard Stoke Row 3rds recorded a resounding 116-run victory at home to Binfield 3rds.

Charlie Laing (61) helped PSR to 236-6, before Alan May (4-9) starred in the visitors’ total of 120.
