BINFIELD CC slipped to a second defeat in three Chilterns League Division One matches as they were beaten by four wickets at home to Penn & Tylers Green, writes Richard Ashton.

The hosts chose to bat but fell into immediate trouble as the top three of Mikey Allan-Canty, Chris Morgan and Adam Marshall all departed to leave them 24-3.

Captain Sean Ennis (22) steadied the ship somewhat, but another collapse left Binfield reeling on 81-7.

The big-hitting Paul Edgington (73, pictured) led something of a recovery with Greg Simmonds (27no), and the hosts were eventually bowled out for 172.

Penn & Tylers Green lost Raunak Biswas cheaply after he edged to Simmons off Phil Davies (2-50). Mike Staves (3-48) put the visitors under more pressure as they slipped to 42-4, but an outstanding unbeaten 78 by Johnny Hughes steered his team home. Binfield host White Waltham this coming Saturday (1pm).

In Division Two, rock bottom Binfield 2nds were thrashed by eight wickets at Taplow 2nds.

Kamal Gupta (28), Joe Sculley (28) and James Wright (14) were the only Binfield players to make double figures as they were shot out for 108.

In reply, Ben Dalglish (58) and Dale Barton (35) put on 96 for the opening wicket, and although they both departed, Taplow cruised home.
