WOKINGHAM CC eased to a second consecutive Thames Valley League Division One win with a routine five-wicket success at home to Windsor on Saturday, writes Richard Ashton.

With the exception of Kristan Baumgartner (56), the visitors struggled to get going throughout their innings and eventually fell to 119 all out in 37.1 overs.

Cameron Spence – who was capped having made his 10th appearance for the 1st XI – returned fine figures of 3-25, while Paul Dewick (2-22) and Dan Housego (2-4) also impressed.

The Wokingham run chase was not always plain sailing, as they slipped to 36-2 and latterly 56-4, but former Hampshire man Michael Bates steered them home with a classy 59 not out from 56 balls.

Harry Jordan was the standout Windsor bowler with figures of 2-28.

Wokingham face a tough test when they travel to Kew this coming Saturday (1pm).

In Division 4b, Wokingham 2nds hammered Henley 3rds by 10 wickets.

The Oaks skittled the home side for just 72, and Simon Carter (40no) and Dan Reddyhough (30no) then hustled their side to victory in the 12th over.

Wokingham 3rds suffered a four-wicket defeat at Fleet 2nds in Division 6b.

Ashley Brinsford top scored with a mere 17 as Wokingham were shot out for just 74, Deep Desai (8-20) the destroyer-in-chief.

The Oaks battled hard in reply with Cameron Gillespie taking 3-34, but Simon Payne’s unbeaten 38 took Fleet across the winning line.

In Division 8a, Wokingham 4ths secured a fine six-wicket victory at home to Kew 4ths. Toby Barker (4-27) and Jake Staples (3-32) did the damage with the ball as the visitors were dismissed for 131, and Wokingham had no trouble reaching their target.

Wokingham 5ths beat Newbury 3rds by 50 runs in Division 9a.

Prasad Kulkarni (78no) and Toqir Khalid (58) led the charge as the Oaks amassed an impressive 231-3 before declaring after 43 overs.

Newbury dug in in a bid to salvage a draw, but Mark James (5-31) and Roger Heath (3-52) ensured the visitors were bowled out for 181.
