CROWTHORNE & Crown Wood began their search for a maiden Wintech Berkshire Cricket League Premier Division title with a nerve-racking four-wicket win at home to Woodley.

Only three visiting batsmen made double figures as Woodley were shot out for just 77, with Jeff Cluett (3-16, pictured) and Zain Abdi (3-22) the destroyers-in-chief.

Crows suffered a top-order collapse as Adeel Razaq (4-34) wreaked havoc, but a hard-hitting unbeaten 30 from Mohammed Careem steered the home side to victory.

Reigning champions Sulhamstead suffered a chastening day as they were forced to block out for a losing draw at Peppard Stoke Row.

Andy Watts (88) provided the backdrop to PSR’s 265-6, while Ash Hayden (41no from 29 balls) and Matt Hopper (25no from 11) added some late fireworks with 60 coming in the last four overs.

Jamie Seward blasted 62 from 52 balls in Sully’s reply, but Hayden’s outstanding afternoon continued as he bagged 5-32 before Matt Gill and Doug Macdonald saw out the innings with the visitors closing on 174-9.

Abrar Pewakar made a brilliant 100 as Mortimer West End thumped Welford Park by 151 runs.

Andy Johnson (50) was also among the runs as MWE were bowled out for 227, Ian Herrington (3-51) and Alex Hutchinson (3-35) the pick of the bowling attack.

The Welford Park innings never got going with only Stephen Yahia (28) making double figures, Johnson (4-48) and Jay Patel (3-20) doing the bulk of the damage as they were skittled for just 76.

West Reading eased to a seven-wicket success at home to Woodcote.

Hafeez Ul-Wahab (4-38) and Ehtsham Iqbal (3-31) helped dismiss Cote for 184, with Jez Mayo playing something of a lone hand with a superb 86 not out.

In reply, Woodcote were made to pay for dropping Adam Davidson second ball as the prolific opener went on to make an unbeaten 81, and with Qamar Abbas adding 67, Wests eased home in 40.3 overs.

Phil West made 59 for Emmbrook & Bearwood, but their total of 183-9 was not enough as Ruislip Victoria secured a five-wicket victory.

In Division One, Salman Haidi made a sensational 157 not out as Berkshire County Sports earned a winning draw at Stratfield Turgis.

Kashif Mehmood added 60 as BCS amassed a monumental 342-5, but Steve Clarke’s brilliant unbeaten 128 guided the hosts to 242-6 in reply.

Pete Slade (3-18), Stuart Hedley (3-18) and Palash Banerjee (3-32) were among the wickets for Goring as they edged to a two-wicket victory at Bradfield.

The hosts were rolled over for 135, and despite Jack Byrne taking 4-50 in reply, Andy Steele’s unbeaten 49 took Goring to glory.

Sandhurst suffered a shock four-wicket defeat at Ibis Mapledurham following their relegation from the top flight.

Mike Hill (55) top scored as the Camels totalled 196-9, but Dave Drury’s brilliant 99 helped Ibis get home despite Conor Pharo’s (3-25) best efforts.

Checkendon earned a comfortable seven-wicket success at home to West Reading 2nds.

Waseem Ameen (84) top scored for the visitors as they were bowled out for 186 after Manpreet Singh (4-8) wiped out the tail.

Checkendon had few worries in the run chase as Ashish Talreja (61no) and Vikas Chib (56no) took them over the winning line.

Sulhamstead 2nds secured a five-wicket win at home to Hawley.

Carl Delaney’s unbeaten 86 took the visitors to 190-4, but that proved insufficient as Keerthi Prakash (87no) and Tim Benham (72) fired Sully to victory with 10 overs to spare.

Gary Shacklady starred with bat and ball as Earley demolished Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds by 140 runs in Division Two.

The captain made 48 and, aided by Curt Watts (87) and Oliver Johnson (41), Earley scored 249-7 declared after 43 overs.

Shacklady (5-34) and Prasad Gore (4-19) then proved too good for the home batsmen, knocking them over for 109.

Sandhurst 2nds enjoyed an easy seven-wicket win at home to Waltham St Lawrence.

Mark Clapham took 3-19 as Saints were dismissed for 140, and Simon Hards made an unbeaten 43 to take the Camels home.

Peppard Stoke Row 2nds won an entertaining clash at Shinfield by 27 runs.

Richard Walker’s 77 helped PSR to 256-7, but Ankush Ghandi (81) had the hosts on track until Riaan Ackerman (4-36) got to work. Shinfield were eventually dismissed for 229.

Farley Hill surpassed Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds’ total of 123 in a four-wicket triumph.

In Division Three, Shabrin Maujoon blasted a run-a-ball 51 from number nine to help Warfield to a 76-run home win against Purley-on-Thames 3rds.

The hosts were dismissed for 171, but Ashley Gander’s outstanding 3-5 in eight overs helped dismiss the Potters for just 95.

Robin Thompson made 73 as Twyford & Ruscombe crushed Knowl Hill by 133 runs.

The home side scored 247-6 before bowling their opponents out for 114.

Welford Park 2nds defeated Mortimer West End 2nds by 42 runs.

Uday Paturi (52) led the way as Park reached 198-7, and Roger Thornton’s 4-20 ensured MWE were dismissed for 156.

Hammad Ali made 53 for West Reading 3rds in their total of 209, but Upendra Deshpande’s unbeaten 68 helped Woodley 2nds to a four-wicket win.

Ruislip Victoria 2nds (260-8) beat Sulhamstead 3rds (173) by 87 runs.

Dan Partridge recorded remarkable figures of 5-8 to help Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds to a dominant eight-wicket annihilation of Waltham St Lawrence 2nds in Division Four.

Saints were shot out for just 56 before the Crows chased them down in just 13 overs.

Nathan Henderson claimed 5-16 to inspire Shinfield 2nds to a six-wicket success at Hawley 2nds.

The hosts were bowled out for 143, and Stuart Henderson’s 58 guided Shinfield to victory.

Colin Canty made 62 for Binfield 3rds (196-7) in their losing draw at Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds (203-8).
