JOSEPH Romanski struck a sensational stoppage-time free-kick for Eversley & California Under 16s as they added the Oxford League Cup to their trophy cabinet following a 2-1 win against Marston Saints.

The victory completed a double following their Hampshire County Cup success earlier this season.

The Boars had the first-half advantage of playing down hill and within 10 minutes they took the lead when Jack Weatherley pounced from close range.

As play progressed the pitch quickly became very slippery with both teams finding it difficult to stay upright.

Eversley continued to press hard but Marston defended extremely well and kept them at bay until the break.

The Oxfordshire side came out pumped up for the second half and took advantage of the slope, forcing Eversley’s keeper to pull off some great saves.

Midway through the half Marston’s pressure paid off when they struck a sweet shot into the top of the net to level the scores.

Both teams squandered chances to take the lead but neither side could convert their chances as the tension rose.

As stoppage time and extra time loomed Eversley were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the Marston area, and up stepped Romanski with a stunning left-foot strike into the top corner to take the lead and the win as the final whistle was blown seconds later.
