ONE Direction’s Niall Horan will return to the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-Am at Wentworth Club in May.

The 22 year old popstar will team up with 2013 US Open Champion Justin Rose for the tournament’s traditional Celebrity Pro Am on Wednesday May 25, when a host of famous faces from the worlds of sport and entertainment will grace the West Course’s fairways.

Having been firmly bitten by the golf bug, Niall, who is an honorary life member of Mullingar Golf Club in his native Ireland, will be hoping to build on the experience he gained from playing in the Pro-Am last year.

Niall admitted he had found playing golf in front of the packed galleries more nerve-wracking than performing in a huge stadium, but he is relishing returning to Wentworth.

He said: “Playing in the BMW PGA Championship Celebrity Pro-am last year was incredible and I can’t wait to be involved again. Hitting my tee shot off the first in front of so many people was probably one of the most nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done, but once that was out of the way I relaxed and we had a laugh.

“Justin has become a great friend over the last few years and I can’t wait to play alongside him.”

Niall and Justin will also be hosting their own private charity event, the Horan & Rose Gala Dinner and Golf Day. The event takes place on the evening of Sunday May 29 and the Bank Holiday Monday May 30 to raise money for Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens, a charity which funds research to find cures and kinder treatments for children’s cancers.

The European Tour is delighted to make Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens the Official Charity of the BMW PGA Championship, and all proceeds from the week will go towards the final total amount that Horan and Rose raise.

Jamie Birkmyre, Championship Director of the BMW PGA Championship, said: “We are delighted that Niall has decided to come back and play in the Celebrity Pro-Am and it’s great he is helping to attract a younger audience to our sport. The team will no doubt be one of the star attractions of the day and a host of other big names will also be teeing it up, so keep an eye on europeantour.com for news.

“The Pro-Am day has grown and grown in recent years, and it’s one of the highlights of the sporting calendar. Having superstars such as Niall and Justin involved is really helping us grow the game and reach a wider audience. The Pro-Am is a brilliant day out for all the family and we have some great deals on advance-purchase tickets, plus entry is free for under-16s.”

Tickets for the Celebrity Pro-Am day can be purchased now here for £12 (plus booking fees) (£15 on the gate).

Advance tickets for the practice day on Tuesday May 24 and the tournament days, Thursday May 26 to Sunday May 28, are also available, representing outstanding value for money.

Tom Chaplin, the lead singer of the chart-topping band Keane, will perform live at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club on Sunday May 29, adding a further dash of glamour to an already star-studded event.

The tournament is set to be better than ever this year with super-group Mike and the Mechanics cranking up the amplifiers on the new, expanded Show Stage with their repertoire of hits on the Saturday evening.

Chaplin, who sold more than ten million albums worldwide with Keane, will then make it a weekend to remember when he and his band bring down the curtain on the event the following night.

Advance tickets for Sunday May 29 are available now, representing excellent value at £45. Advance tickets are also available for the other three tournament days, the Tuesday practice day and the Celebrity Pro-Am.
