WOKINGHAM District Under 11s stayed top of the Surrey League with an excellent 4-2 victory at home to Woking, writes Richard Ashton.

Both sides started at a high tempo but it was Wokingham (pictured right) who created the first real chance as Henry Mott set up Dominic Ballard, only for his shot to go just wide.

At the other end, Archie Collier cleared a Woking effort off the line, before Mott put his side in front with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner..

Within 10 minutes Ballard had been brought down in the area, allowing Mott to double his tally from the penalty spot in making it 2-0.

Wokingham continued to dominate as Ballard, Finlay Coleman and Alfie Edmonds drove their team forwards, and it was the latter who scored the third with a fine strike past the Woking goalkeeper.

The visitors hit back with a long-range free-kick which looped over Ben Lewens into the Wokingham net, and they took advantage of some questionable defending to cut the gap to 3-2 before the break.

The second half proved to be an end-to-end affair but Coleman gave his side some breathing space with a side-footed effort to make it 4-2.

Chances continued to come and go at both ends, but Wokingham held on for an impressive victory.

l BROGAN Moore was in devastating form as her four goals helped Ascot United Under 16 Diamonds to a 9-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace in their League Cup semi final.

Amy Woolard was on target for the U17 Diamonds but they were beaten 4-1 by Beecholme Belles.
