BRACKNELL Town’s season showed little sign of improving after a 6-4 loss at fellow Hellenic Premier strugglers Ardley United on Saturday.

Robins would have moved above their hosts with a win last weekend. But Mark Tallentire’s new-look side somehow blew a three-goal lead as Ardley stormed back to take all three points in a 10-goal rollercoaster.

Tallentire included new additions Johnnie Dyer, Ed Chappe, Callum Whitty, Adam Cornell and Dave Fenton in his starting line-up, while former player/manager Danny Oliphant also started having re-signed for the club.

Debutant Cornell was quickly on the scoresheet after meeting Dyer’s cross, turning his marker and firing past Ardley’s Keiran Beesley.

Bracknell doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Oliphant’s 20-yard drive after Ardley failed to clear a corner.

Seven minutes later it was 3-0 after Cornell grabbed his second of the game to seemingly put the visitors in control.

However, Ardley gave themselves a lifeline on the stroke of half time when Ade Talebi shot past Garry Aulsberry to make it 3-1.

Robins were unlucky not to score again after the restart when Kennie Chamberlain rattled the crossbar. It proved a turning point as soon after Robins switched off at a corner and Ardley’s Lewis Strafford scored from outside the box.

Ardley then notched an equaliser when Elias Katasoloudi scored with a spectacular overhead kick.

The momentum was now with the hosts and they quickly went 5-3 ahead thanks to a Katasoloudi penalty and another goal from Talebi.

Robins pulled it back to 5-4 as the clash entered stoppage time when Dyer forced the ball home.

But any hopes of a Robins equaliser were soon dashed when Reece Bayliss raced onto a ball over the top before beating Aulsberry for the last goal of a pulsating match.

Bracknell have now won just twice in 16 league games and have let in six goals on two occasions following a heavy defeat at promotion-chasing Thatcham Town in August. It doesn’t get any easier for Robins as they are due to host second-placed Thatcham at Larges Lane this Saturday (3pm ko).

The fixture will see striker Shane Cooper-Clark make his maiden return to Larges Lane following his move to Thatcham last week.
